Beatrix Potter & Cath Kidston Patchwork Quilt & Cushion ♥

I'm crazy, when I see things I like and I just have to have them, I don't even have to think about it, when I get it in my mind that I want them then there's no talking me out of it - tell me I'm not alone in this?! This beautiful Beatrix Potter and Cath Kidston fabric patchwork quilt and cushion set was no exception, the minute I saw it it had to be mine and the eighteen other watchers on Ebay just made me act even faster to get it. They actually are part of a cot set and also came with an American style all-around bumper and bunting in the same fabrics, but, as I'm not expecting I don't need the bumper and my bunting-a-holic self has run out of places to hang the pretty triangular stuff around the house, so those additions are now safely sealed in a vacuum bag and put away for the future just in case I ever do need them, shame really as the set is absolutely beautiful.

I just thought this set was the most beautiful thing ever when I came across it on Ebay, I mean two of my favourite things - Beatrix Potter tales and Cath Kidston fabrics in one - how could I possibly resist?! I've always loved Beatrix Potter and grew up with a fondness for the tales and the beloved characters, if you're not familiar then you have to read The Tale of Peter Rabbit, it's the 10th best selling children's book of all time people! I now have this cushion proped up on my bed, I think it's just beautiful and I love that my favourite characters are on the front - Peter Rabbit, the Flopsy Bunnies, Jemima Puddle-Duck and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle.

I only had the quilt on my bed for a short while, I think it's too precious to have out, especially when Tyler Lee and his chocolate face usually finds his way to my bed! It matches the cushion perfectly though and I really love the patchwork on it. I've always wanted a patchwork quilt so now I finally have one of my very own (albeit it is for a little one!). What I love about the set is that it's one of a kind, it was handmade for a baby girl but never used and it makes it all the more special knowing I'm the only person with this.

I really need to stop with the Beatrix Potter collecting for the moment though, I'm seriously broke from it all - who knew that anything with the characters was so sought after and so bloody expensive! I've also gotten Tyler Lee his very own handmade patchwork quilt from the super lovely and talented Scarlett's Cozy Cottage on Etsy, so I'll be sure to show that off when it arrives from America. I can envision myself ending up with a room just for all these pretty things one day, I'm still so in awe of this bloggers Peter Rabbit room, it's so beautiful and homely! Jacek is going to kill me if I buy anything else, you can safely bet that I'm now on a spending ban, it was so worth it though, just look at the prettiness and it's all mine! My blog's tagline is 'lose yourself in all things beautiful', so if I didn't have anything beautiful things to show you all I wouldn't be really fulfilling the objective of my blog now would I? I'm seriously clutching at straws here trying to justify this purchase but I love it and that's all that matters, right?!

Are you a Beatrix Potter fan too?

  1. OMG, it's like looking at a room out of my grandmother's house. I love it! I grew up in the south, and it seems to me that southern decoration has a LOT in common with the kinds of things you see in Ireland, Scotland, and England.

  4. I have always wanted to learn how to quilt. My great grandmothers were all quilters and I still have amazing pieces made by them. This is so cute. I love the duplicity of the pieces.

  9. Beautiful! I always loved Beatrix Potter when I was a little girl. Those 2 fabrics together are so pretty. I don't blame you for treasuring it and keeping it away from chocolate faces. :)

  12. I have always loved Beatrix Potter stories. I remember my Gramma reading them to me, and then I remember reading them myself when I was able. So very nice to have another keepsake to recall those moments. Lovely work!
