Popsicle Inspired Cottage Decor ♥

I am absolutely in love with decorating and interiors at the moment, my passion spurred on by the fabulous briefs I'm set as part of my ambassador role with Graham & Brown. I really do love these briefs as they allow me to get creative and add my own flair to things around my home and now the cottage next to my parents house too. This months brief was Popsicle and the trend is all about colour and using it playfully around your home. I love colour, the more of it the better, for me there is nothing worse than black and white spaces, rooms without even a hint of colour, whether they be part of the artwork or soft furnishings, I love pops of colour, prints and pastels especially and the more of them the better.

Graham & Brown state - "Interiors trends don’t simply arrive; they are ingrained in our history. They may originate through a hint or a whisper, or they could stem from an explosion of style which defines a decade. Popsicle is no different, with a pastel palette cropping up in homes throughout history".

I was challenged by Graham & Brown to pinpoint where I can see Popsicle in my past, present and future and I love reminiscing and looking ahead to future wishes too.

Past: Popsicle colours really do evoke a some childhood nostalgia for me. I was dressed very colourfully as a child, ate colourful things - pixie sticks, flying saucers and lemon sherbets being in the forefront of my mind here. My bedroom was always very colourful too and was pink with mint green bedding, I loved it.

Present: I am still a lover of colour and this is present everywhere in my home from the bunting in my living room to my sons rainbow inspired bedroom. I also wear colour everyday, not in my clothing but in the makeup I wear, green eye shadow being a favourite of mine at the moment. It's lovely to see that I still play with colour, even in my adult years and I try to dress my son as colourfully as I can now, just as my mother did with me. I am in love with soft blue coloured blankets for my son and that colour will always remind me of this time in my life.

Future: When I think of Popsicle in my future I think of moving into a new home and decorating it as I so wish. I think of my future children and whether or not it will be soft pinks or baby blues again for me. I think of decorating nurseries and re-decorating my sons bedroom as he grows. I have so many ideas and can't wait to put them into motion and see how they materialise one day.

In the spirit of Popsicle I decided to decorate the living room area of the cottage a bit and inject some colour into the area which is usually just magnolia with black curtains, so boring! I love how the area looks now and my mother and I agreed that it has quite a beach hut feel to it now. I guess all these ice-cream colours just make people envision beach huts, ice-cream cones and summer clothes!

I displayed the Dreams As Big As the Ocean and Sunshine After the Rain canvases on the fireplace to inject a bit of colour to the area and really make a feature on the mantlepiece. I love these canvases, they're so colourful and really striking, I also have two other styles in my house too. I picked some fresh flowers from the garden in pinks and purples to add even more colour to the mantle. I love candles so I picked up Appletini and Lemon Verbana scented ones as I loved the colours and thought they tied in with the Sunshine After the Rain canvas quite well.

I did another upcycle on one of the ugliest armchairs in the world and I shall be featuring this upcycle on my other blog next week. I transformed the chair from dark, ugly coloured wood to perfect pastel pink using Cinderella's Perfect Pastel Paint By Disney. I absolutely love how it turned out now and it's far prettier than it ever was before. I covered the armchair with a colourful striped fabric and I think this fits the Popsicle trend perfectly too. I also placed my other upcycled chair by the fire too. I think the pink and blue furniture look really pretty together.

Finally, to add one last splash of colour I placed the Dream Cushion and the Air Balloon Cushion on the chairs, these were the perfect finishing touch.

I really love this space now, it has given a pretty, colourful feel to the cottage and I think that's exactly the vibe that cottages should have. I can envision myself adding to this space even more with my future ambassador briefs and I can't wait to enjoy this space now, it's so relaxing and peaceful in there.

Thank you so much to Graham & Brown for supplying me with these beautiful products to design this space. I really do love being a Graham & Brown ambassador. As you can see, a small few touches can really makeover a space or a room.

Do you like my Popsicle inspired cottage decor?
