1. Kylemore Abbey, County Galway
Nestled in the heart of Connemara, Kylemore Abbey is one of Ireland’s most iconic and romantic castles. Originally built as a grand love gesture, even the story behind this beautiful place is like something from a fairytale. The abbey is now home to Benedictine nuns (who make their own chocolate!) and features beautifully restored rooms, a stunning walled garden and amazing views of the surrounding Connemara landscape. The storybook charm of this place makes it a must-visit for any traveller.

Planted in the 18th century, the intertwining branches create a tunnel of enchantment, making it one of the most photographed locations in Ireland. It’s a magical spot for a scenic stroll, especially at sunrise or sunset. Sadly, due to many storms, many trees have now fallen, but The Dark Hedges is still a beautiful, free attraction to visit in Northern Ireland.
