7 Touches For A Shabby Chic Inspired Bedroom ♥

One of my favourite decor styles is shabby chic. I've written about my love for this particular decor style on the blog before and it's a style which I still love and have in my own home to this day.

I could spend hours on Pinterest, trawling through all the beautiful shabby chic design inspirations that people have shared there and I am always inspired to try out new little touches in my own home.

Here are some finishing touches to give your bedroom a shabby chic inspired feel.

Hang a canopy over the bed
I had a canopy hanging over the food of my bed when I was a child and teenager and it really did look so beautiful. You can choose whatever fabric you like - mine were always tulle and use beautiful old metal hooks attached to the wall to keep them tied and draped back. If you're wanting to go that extra bit shabby chic, you could also add fairy lights to your canopy for a dreamy look.

Finish off the room with skirting board and architrave
Skirting board helps to give the room a polished and completed look and for the shabby chic look, there are lots of lovely white and moulded skirting board designs to choose from. To finish off your doors and colums, architrave makes for the perfect framed look and ties in well with skirting boards too. Skirting board and architrave give a subtle design detail to a room and gives a lovely polished look too.

Embrace the florals
Whether it be floral print or vases filled with fresh flowers, shabby chic cannot be done without some hint of floral. I love having a delicate floral pattern on my bed sheets and different floral patterned scatter cushions on my bed.

I also love having vases full of fresh flowers such as roses and gypsophila on dressers and bedside tables. It's such a small touch but really makes the room look a lot brighter and prettier. If you're looking for some floral inspiration, take a look at my post about decorating with flowers.

Keep little trinkets on display
Use shelves or dressers to display your beautiful trinkets such as jewellery, candles, ornaments, mirrors, etc. All these little things tie so well into the shabby chic theme and the prettier the better!

Opt for a vintage style bed
A vintage style bed is the perfect touch for a shabby chic inspired bedroom. Think metal bed frames, four poster beds and whitewashed headboards. I had a metal bed frame in my childhood bedroom and it was stunning! The bed is the real focal point of any bedroom, so having it looking beautiful is a must.

Decorate with patterned wallpaper
Patterned wallpaper is the perfect addition to a shabby chic inspired bedroom and the design can be as subtle or busy as you like. I'm personally a fan of delicate floral print patterned wallpaper, like in this picture, or, if you want something a bit more bold, this bright blue and floral print wallpaper would be a perfect pop of colour in a shabby chic bedroom.

Upcycle old furniture
Adding a shabby chic feel to your bedroom can be as simple as picking up a paintbrush and making over an old piece of furniture - either that you already have or have picked up from a thrift store or charity shop.

There are no even wooden paints that come in a range of shabby chic inspired colours and are perfect for giving a new lease of life to your old pieces. If you're looking for some upcycling inspiration, have a look at my DIY shabby chic chair upcycle.
