Beau's Beatrix Potter Inspired Nursery ♥

I thought it was about time that I shared my favourite room in the house here on the blog - Beau's Beatrix Potter inspired nursery. When I was pregnant I was forever searching Pinterest for some nursery inspiration, unsure of what theme or colour scheme I wanted to go with and nothing really caught my eye, then the whole Beatrix Potter theme just came together when I decided I wanted to reuse some of the lovely items I had for Tyler Lee when he was a baby.

The nursery is the smallest room in the house but also the brightest, hence the net curtains and the sweetheart blue blackout blinds. I love all the hints of baby blue in the room, I think it goes so well with the white furniture and of course it's perfect for our baby boy.

All the bedding in Beau's cot, apart from the sheet, is handmade and the patchwork quilt depicting some of Beatrix Potter's loveable characters in the real showpiece, I love all the different fabrics used in it and I requested for it to me custom made in a baby blue colour palette. The comforter hanging on the side of the cot was made by the same lovely lady too. The patchwork cushion showing Peter Rabbit was a bargain purchase from a lovely girl I follow on Instagram and was a total bargain at just £5. The sweet dreams wooden letter garland was also a bargain at just €5 and I think it's perfect for hanging above a cot.

There are a few Peter Rabbit plushes and comforters in Beau's nursery, some I've popped in a white wicker basket that I picked up in Penneys. A musical Peter Rabbit hangs on the side of his cot and I've also attached a Peter Rabbit buggy toy to the cot too. He's also inherited Tyler Lee's stacking blocks and soft ball and I'm sure he'll have more Peter Rabbit themed toys soon as that's what I plan on getting him for his first Christmas. I've also put the Beatrix Potter collection of books on his chest of drawers and my aunt gave him the Beatrix Potter ten book set as a gift when he was born.

The cubed units are from Argos and are perfect for storing all his skincare and changing things. I also have some blankets and muslins rolled up in there as well as some little board and cloth books.

I was unsure about whether or not to keep the old chair in the nursery and I've just covered the floral fabric with a cotton ball type blanket. I now sit on the chair when Beau is in his cot and it's lovely to be able to sit next to him.

The Beatrix Potter mobile is a vintage find that I found on Ebay. I think it's from the 1980's and it plays Brahm's lullaby, that quintessential getting babies to sleep song. Another vintage item in the room is the Peter Rabbit playsuit which hangs on a wooden Peter Rabbit hanger on the wall. It's aged 6-9 so it won't be long before Beau is able to wear it but I think it's lovely on display.

I've been putting fresh flowers in Beau's nursery since before he was born, I think it may be because he's a summer baby but I just love having some fresh flowers in bloom on his cubed unit.

I really do love the nursery, it's exactly how I wanted it to be - bright, uncluttered and childlike. I've seen so many nurseries over the past year that are super stylish but lacking the childlike quality that I think a baby's room needs so I definitely wanted something classic and age appropriate in the nursery and I think I achieved that.

Pin for later!

  2. That's a very lovely and relaxing nursery :) Every Christmas my in-laws includes a ceramic (not really sure actually what materials they are) character from Beatrix Potters stories in T's presents. They are collectible. T doesn't seem bothered about them, but I love them :)

  37. This so gorgeous! I love Beatrix Potter (I actually have a Peter Rabbit toy giveaway going live on my blog tomorrow morning). The Peter Rabbit cushion is my favourite and what a bargain! Amazing. I had a Beatrix Potter themed birthday party when I was little and each of my friends had to come dressed as a specific character. I was Jemimah Puddle-Duck and my brother was Peter Rabbit.

Also, congratulations because somebody loved this post so much, they added it to the #blogcrush linky. Feel free to collect your "I've been featured" blog badge :) #blogcrush
