My middle son, Beau, loves all things Titanic and for his 8th birthday, I surprised him with a trip to Belfast to experience all things Titanic. This surprise included a family stay at the beautiful Titanic Hotel Belfast.
As a family, we love going on adventures and Belfast is a place I had wanted to take my sons for quite some time.
The hotel is situated inside the old Harland and Wolff building, which has been beautifully restored with care. The hotel really is stunning and all of the Titanic and other White Starline ship memorabilia adorning the walls and rooms within the hotel, make it seem like a museum in itself. Our boys loved playing chess at the hotel and with the iconic Harland and Wolff Samson and Goliath cranes peering in the window, it really made for a great photo memory from our trip.
We stayed at the hotel for two nights and our room had two double beds to accommodate the four of us. The bedrooms of the hotel are decorated as if you were in a ships cabin. The rooms of the Titanic Hotel Belfast were comfortable and had everything our family needed for a comfortable stay. We had a TV in our room, tea and coffee making facilities, a beautifully decorated and spacious bathroom with complimentary toiletries and more of the usual finds of a standard hotel room.
Breakfast was included in our room rate and is served buffet style, where you can choose whatever you want to eat. There's also some 'from the kitchen' options available too which you can order. Buffet style breakfasts suit us down to the ground with our boys who can be quite picky when it comes to what they will and will not eat!
We didn't experience dinner at the hotel, but during our stay we did treat ourselves to afternoon tea. If you want to have afternoon tea at the Titanic Hotel Belfast you need to book in advance. I did so via there website through their booking service and was able to write in any special requests we had.
Afternoon tea was served in the stunning bar area of the hotel and they had a pianist playing the grand piano. The food was amazing and it really was a first class experience! I'll share more about the afternoon tea in a separate blog post as I think it really is deserving of it's own post, it was that good.
Our stay for the two nights cost €594.92, which didn't include parking, so this really was a luxury stay for us. Do keep that in mind if you're wanting to stay and book here. Parking also wasn't included within the price. Parking worked out at £15 per night in an underground carpark a few steps away from the hotel. It's not well signposted though - drive past the hotel and it's the second turn on your left. Our car was perfectly safe and secure there.
If you're staying in Belfast, I highly recommend a stay at the Titanic Hotel. Not only is it such an important building when it comes to Belfast's history, but it's so close to a lot of key places of interests. As I've said, the Titanic Experience is literally a few steps away from the hotel, the S.S. Nomadic is a minute away, W5 is a five minute walk away, the H.M.S. Caroline is a ten minute walk and the Titanic Quarter itself is great to be in.
The Titanic Hotel really is beautiful and I'm so glad I got to surprise my son with a visit here. It was the perfect base for us as we explored County Antrim and County Down.
I'm sure one day my Titanic-loving boy will return to the hotel. He said Belfast was his favourite place he's visited.
