I can't say I'm a huge fan of red lipsticks, I just don't think they suit me, I prefer to go for a bright fuchsia or sugary pink but this Clinique shade really caught my eye. Scarlet is a very true red colour, quite a bright shade but also with deep tones. When I first applied I found that this lipstick had a gloss look which was quite nice, however, after awhile and although the name of this lipstick is 'moisture surge' I didn't find it to be extremely moisturising at all, I actually found it to be quite matte even with the glossy finish it gives to the lips. The lipstick is extremely long lasting and is a great shade for both day or night. I applied this lipstick when I had no other makeup on and found that it looked amazed, I am so impressed with the hue of it and it has really won me around, perhaps a red lipstick is something I should add more regularly to my makeup look. I am really loving the pigmentation of this lipstick, like it's moniker it truly is 'scarlet' and true to the shade you see on the stick. This is the first Clinique lipstick I have ever purchased and due to the quality and wear of it I know it won't be the last. I am super impressed and as a gal with high expectations when it comes to a good lipstick I can say that I am definitely giving this one is getting top marks even though it's name isn't very honest.
