A Fun Day Out With Kids At West Cork Model Railway Village

If you're looking for a fun place to visit with kids in the West Cork area, then you need to check out the West Cork Model Railway Village in Clonakilty.

I remember going here as a child and last year, had the pleasure of taking my sons there for the first time. This past weekend we went back and they loved it just as much as their first visit.

If you have children who are interested in making toys or villages with their toys at home, or trains and other vehicles, then the West Cork Model Railway Village is the place to visit.

Entry costs €25 for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children) and I would advise to bring coins with you for the self-drive boats and mini diggers - sadly we didn't think to bring coins on our visit.

The model village itself is very sweet and charming, with trains running constantly. The kids love to see which station the trains will stop at next.

There's also a road train ride option available too at an extra cost - this would be a great experience for kids.

So much detail has gone into the model railway village and adults and children will delight at looking at them all. We all loved picking out our favourite buildings in each town featured as part of the West Cork Model Railway Village.

There's a small outdoor play area for children and an indoor play area - which sadly is not open yet due to the times we're living in. There's also a café and gift shop, or you can bring a picnic yourself and enjoy it at one of the many picnic tables by the outdoor play area.

I'd highly recommend a visit here with the kids - they'll love it! Teamed with a visit to the nearby beautiful Inchydoney Beach, it makes for a fabulous day out for all the family - it's one of our favourites.
