Playroom Makeover With Quick Step Floors

We live in my childhood home and for as long as I can remember the second living room has always been an unused room. It's decor was in keeping with the old age of the house and had a real vintage style to it, but being a family with young children, we wanted to give the room a new lease of life.

When the opportunity to collaborate with Quick Step came up I was delighted as it meant we could get rid of the old, dark carpet (which had been in the room for as long as I remember!) and replace it with a beautiful wooden floor.

We decided to turn the second living room into a playroom for the boys and I wanted the room to be a beautiful, bright space for them to enjoy.

The theme of the room is summer, and I think that's perfect for a playroom as it just makes me think of happiness and brightness.

We went with the paint colour Tears of Joy by Valspar, which is a bit more vibrant than I originally wanted, but again, it goes with the joyful summer theme quite well. The paint colour also seems to change in different light.

I wanted a light coloured floor, so choose the Polar oak matt from Quick Step, which is a beautiful hardwood floor in a gorgeous light wood shade.

It's a perfect shade - even lighter than it's showing up in pictures as it has a white hue to it in person and it's really helped to open up the room and make it a nice, bright space.

The flooring arrived in packs, with underlay also provided. Delivery was quick and the flooring was relatively easy to put down - my brother laid it for us as he has experience putting flooring down due to his job.

I really love it and can't thank Quick Step enough for collaborating with us on this playroom makeover.

Obviously the playroom is not yet finished. We're a bit behind due to family things going on behind the scenes here, but I'm loving how it's looking so far.

I painted the skirting boards and the door white while Jacek has been away. I was unsure about painting the door as it's an original feature and the natural look of it was nice, but the white has just helped to tie everything together and make the room feel even more brighter along with the flooring and wall colour.

We have a Kallax unit from Ikea for the boys to store and display their toys, but we need to buy more storage.

I love the vintage Singer sewing machine table but will move it to the other living room as it's too 'grown up' for this space. The fire is an original feature so we won't be changing it, but I'll be keeping to furniture and styling quite playful to counteract how vintage looking the fireplace is.

When the playroom makeover is completely finished I'll do another update post.

I know what colour couch I want to go for and it's a bit more 'out there' than I ever thought I would go for but I think it'll be fun for a playroom.

I really can't wait to have it all finished and have the boys enjoy the space for many years to come.

Thank you to Quick Step for collaborating with us on this makeover.
