If
you want to update your home but have a
limited budget there's no
need to put your plans on hold. You don't have to redecorate your whole home to give it a fresh look. By making little changes, you can change the feel of a room and improve how it looks, all
without a massive cost involved.
I wanted to share these DIY ideas to inspire you and that will hopefully help you make a big
difference, with a small budget, to the spaces you'd like to improve within your home.
Vintage pieces are absolutely beautiful and can cost a whole lot less than new furniture - giving you something completely unique for your home, without the huge price tag. If you're wanting to do up your kitchen or dining room and would love a statement piece for the room, vintage dining tables would be a great piece of furniture to browse and to invest in for your home.
Upcycling
furniture is really cheap to do too and can really change the feel of your room and help you to save money by
reusing your old furniture. If you have old chairs or side tables that
have lost their appeal, or just simply don't go with your decor any long, then why not buy some furniture paint and
get creative?
I've previously upcycled some old wooden chairs and I love how they turned out. You can see my DIY wooden chair upcycle here.
Organise your rooms
of
the most effective ways to freshen up a room without spending a whole lot of money is to give it a good tidy up and organise proper storage.
Sort
through any unwanted clutter - sell unwanted items to make money for buying new furniture or decorating supplies,
and store items away neatly in storage boxes. Not only will you gain extra space,
but your room will be a much more pleasant environment to spend time in.
I
My favourite clever DIY storage idea is
using garden baskets to store children's toys and books, which I found here. I think it creates a real feature on the wall and is so cheap to put together too.
can find some amazing furniture and pieces for your home for cheap from
places like thrift stores, old vintage shops, salvage yards, carboot
sales and some people I know have found some real finds in skips!
These
pieces can be quite unique and make a real statement in your room. If
you don't like the colour scheme of the furniture even though you love
the shape, you can always upcycle it as stated above or you can reupholster fabric furniture. I have found amazing, unused fabrics in charity shops and have had cushions made out of them for my home.
You can really find some
real gems by being thrifty, one mans trash is another mans treasure as
they say! It's my dream to find an old fashioned dressing table at a
bargain price, hopefully one day I will!
For a budget-friendly home revamp, updating your
cushions is arguably
one of the top ways to change the look and feel of a room. Cushion
covers are relatively inexpensive but if you are a keen sewer you could
also have a go at making some cushion covers of your own too
If you like to
knit or crochet you could make your own throws to put over your couch or
bed too. Making your own cushions and soft
furnishings really gives a personal feel to your home and is great as
it puts you in charge of the colour and design you want too.
are just some of the DIY ideas out there to improve your home. I find a
lot of my DIY inspiration on Pinterest, some of the ideas on there are amazing and very inspiring.
