Fruit Picking in Ireland | The Apple Farm, Co. Tipperary ♥

I always see inquiries from parents in various online groups and forums dedicated to travel and days out with kids asking about places where you can pick your own fruit and I've found an amazing place - The Apple Farm, Co. Tipperary.

Situated just down the road from Clonmel and Cahir, The Apple Farm is a working farm producing their own delicious fruit produce and products for sale. The farm is beautiful and has the most apple trees I've ever seen in one spot!

We visited here during our collaboration with Tipperary Tourism and were amazed at just how beautiful it was. I can imagine just how beautiful it is in the autumn too when the apples are ripe for picking, but that just gives us an excuse to go back. The farm is situated only an hour from Cork so it's a quick journey up the motorway.

Sadly, on the day we visited it was raining, but that didn't stop us have a wander around the gorgeous apple orchards - I've never seen so many apples and my apple loving boys were delighted with themselves! These boys of mine choose apples over chocolate, so being in a field full of apple trees was a real treat for them, let me tell you!

The apples were hanging off the trees like beautiful baubles of red and green and although we were sadly too early to pick them (they're ripe and ready for picking come September), it was still lovely to see them growing in all their glory and the boys had fun trying to juggle some that had already fallen to the ground.

The farm grows 60 different varieties of apple, as well as plums, cherries, raspberries and strawberries. You can also pick your own fruit on the farm from June and throughout the summer, but sadly we were too late in the season for that.

There's a little playground at The Apple Farm which the boys would have loved to go and have a play at, only for the rain stopping them!

The Apple Farm also has a camping and caravan site which is open from May 1st to September 30th each year. This would make a lovely base for anyone who loves the great outdoors and wants to explore the Munster area as it's close to a lot of places of interest too which make for fab days out with the kids.

Before we left The Apple Farm we had to stop by their farm shop. They sell lots of lovely produce and we had to pick up some of their cloudy lemonade which is absolutely delicious and at only €3.50 for a 750ml bottle I thought that was great value for an artisan product.

The Apple Farm was free for us to explore - I'm not sure how much the punnets are for fruit picking, but I think it makes for a lovely place to visit with kids, especially those who love fruit just as much as our two boys do!

For more information on The Apple Farm check out their website and Facebook page for updates on when they are open for apple picking during September and fruit picking during the summer months.

The Apple Farm offers pick your own strawberries in July at an entry fee of €1 per person and €5.50 per kg of strawberries picked.

Apple picking will begin on the first weekend of September and will be held on weekends only from 10a.m. to 4p.m. There will be a €2 per person entry fee and apples will cost €1 per kg, which I think is fantastic value!
