How To Sleep Your Way To Better Health ♥

Getting a good night’s sleep is vital for your overall health and not
benefiting from enough shuteye can cause your body to suffer. I've shared some of my natural sleep saviours on the blog before, but I thought I would share some more ways to get a full night's sleep as it's so important to sleep soundly and feel well-rested in the morning. So if you’re
fed up of feeling tired and want to improve your well-being, hopefully the below tips can be of use to you.

Improve your bed set up
When it comes to sleeping, your bed obviously plays an extremely important role. A
poor-quality bed may be doing your health more harm than good and
having a negative effect on your sleeping pattern. Perfecting your bed
set up is fairly simple, and you could
start by turning your attention to the mattress itself. Ideally, your mattress should be comfortable and supportive and be neither too firm
or too soft. You might find that a memory foam model is suitable for
you (I know my poor back could benefit from one of these!). These sleeping surfaces mould to the shape of your body and provide
pressure relief for aching joints and muscles. This style of mattress
can be found in most high street bed shops or on specialist websites.

Create a relaxing bedtime routine
With our hectic schedules and busy routines, it can sometimes be
difficult to let our bodies unwind at bedtime. So that you’re fully
prepped for sleep, you could make the effort to create a relaxing
evening routine. Whether you choose to have a soak in a hot bubble bath
or read your favourite book, scheduling yourself some ‘me time’ before
bed could help your body and mind unwind, and also shorten the time it
takes for you to fall asleep. If you can, you should try to unplug
yourself from technology as the night rolls in (so hard I know, for people like myself who love their Instagram fix before bedtime). From your phone to the
TV, electronic devices can stimulate your brain, leaving you feeling
awake and making it harder for you to get some shuteye. So, cast your
favourite gadgets aside until the morning to enjoy a full night’s sleep.

Exercise before you slumber
To ensure that you’re set for sleep you could try doing some gentle
exercise before you head to bed. Great for your overall health, physical
exercise will tire you out, making it easier for you to drift off.
However, it’s important that you don’t take part in anything too
strenuous as this could make you feel more alert, you don't want to pump up the adreneline too much! You could head to the
gym or join a yoga class after work or simply try some light activity at
home such as meditating and stretching at bedtime. Your time spent
asleep will allow your body and muscles to recover, leaving you feeling
energised and refreshed the next day.

Taking note of these simple
sleep tips could help you improve your wellbeing and enable you to
become a much happier and healthier person.
