5 Reasons Why Cruise Holidays Are Great ♥

We're in the midst of a very bleak and rainy November and I'm looking ahead to next year and what travel plans we'd like to make.

I'm turning 30 in March and would love to experience a new type of travel and a new destination or two too. Top of my ultimate family travel bucket list is going on a cruise.

It would be my dream to materialise booking a luxury cruise and be able to head off on a new travel experience, as cruising is not something I've ever experienced before.

I live in a port town and see cruise ships docking here almost everyday during the summer and long to experience a cruise holiday for myself. I think it would be a holiday like no other and totally different to any holiday we've ever experienced before.

Here are 5 reasons why I think cruise holidays are great:

1. You get to experience more than one destination on one holiday
I love the thought of going to sleep in one destination and waking up in another. I think cruising is a great way to see lots of destinations in a short amount of time and during one holiday.

I'd love to go on a Caribbean cruise and experience the beautiful islands and crystal clear waters. A European cruise also appeals to me as there's so much of Europe I haven't seen yet and each country has so many amazing places of interest and culture. A cruise would be a great way of ticking lots of 'must-see' destinations off my list during essentially one holiday.

2. There's minimal travel effort involved
I love going to new places but hate all the travelling involved. I hate the faff of travelling through an airport, the long security lines and the waiting... I also suffer from motion sickness so long car, bus or train journeys just aren't an option for me either.

Cruising allows you to enjoy your holiday and travel to a new destination, without having to leave the ship or do any effort to get there and that's so appealing to me!

3. They offer lots of opportunity for adventure
On port days, there will be a variety of excursions available to you with everything from snorkelling off the coast of the Caribbean to visiting ancient sites such as Machu Picchu in Peru, no matter what your interest, the options for on shore excursions during cruise holidays are enough to quench any thirst for adventure.

Even if you don't want to partake in an excursion, cruising allows you to experience the culture, cuisine and sights of a whole manner of destinations and to find your own adventures within them too.

4. There's something for everyone
There are a variety of cruises available to suit all budgets and age ranges. For families, there are cruises that offer a huge family-friendly focus, with activities to entertain the kids and to keep them happy while parents still relax.

For adults there are cruises which offer a lot of luxury and time to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of every day life. There's also so much on board to keep all voyagers entertained during time at sea and it's great that cruises offer everything you need in one place.

5. They provide a unique experience
Yes, cruise holidays can cost a whole lot more than a traditional resort holiday, but I honestly think they would be worth the money for the experience they provide alone. Imagine being on holiday, surrounded by the sea and getting to relax, be entertained and explore a whole host of beautiful destinations all during one trip - I couldn't think of anything better to be honest!
