Cheap & Cheerful DIY Easter Tree ♥

Yesterday I made something I had never made before - an Easter tree.

I don't know if it's a very traditional thing here in Ireland but my mam always puts one together and displays it in the kitchen, so I thought I would give it a go.

It wasn't a premeditated thing, but as I strolled through the woods with my boys yesterday morning, I noticed a fallen branch on the floor with the most perfectly shaped branches on it for hanging decorations, so I decided to take it home and have a go at making my own Easter tree.

I collected three branches from the woods - all had already fallen and were lying on the woodland floor, we're always careful to not pick or break anything growing outdoors.

I placed the three branches in a large glass vase and being honest, if I had had another type of vase or jug to put them in I would have because I'm a bit conscious of the kids pulling on the tree, toppling it over and breaking the vase... I'm sure it'll be okay though, I have it up against the wall for a bit of balance.

I loved that I was able to get a branch with some leaves still on it, it gives that whole 'new life' vibe that Easter is all about.

I hung some pretty, old Easter decorations I had lying in a box for years. Each pack was only €1.49 from Dealz (Poundland in the U.K.), but they are so pretty with their individual designs and mixture of pastel and bright colours. It was nice to crack the decorations open for more than just our annual woodland Easter egg hunt for once!

I then cut up some bits of blue ribbon I had lying in a basket in Beau's room. Does anyone else do that? Hold onto bits and bobs because you just know that one day you'll need them - even if that day is years later...

I also tied some of the ribbon around the vase and left it in a bow, just to finish the whole thing off nicely.

I then popped my Easter basket next to it with some blue bunny print fabric I picked up for £1.50 in a charity shop last year and put some chocolate treats and Easter eggs in it. I also popped a bunny nightlight from Beau's room next to the vase and popped some daffodils which only cost me 75c from Aldi in a glass bottle, just to add a floral aspect to my little Easter display.

I love it! It's cheap and cheerful but oh so pretty and I absolutely loved putting it together.

I think I may just have started a new Easter tradition for myself with my little Easter tree.
