Spring is finally upon us and the nude makeup look is a big trend for the season. I'm really getting into experimenting with different makeup brands and products again so I'm back with another review for you all, this time it's the W7 In the Buff palette, a gorgeous bargain eye shadow palette that offers a whole host of neutral shaded loveliness. In the Buff is a well known dupe for Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette, even the packaging on this palette is quite similar to the Naked 2. Of course, In the Buff is a far more purse friendly palette than the Naked 2, but enough of the comparison, onto the review...
In the Buff offers twelve neutral shades, three matte shades and nine shimmer shades. There is a mixture of light and dark shades which are great for creating a variety of looks and I will admit that I prefer the lighter/middle shades - I always stay clear of dark eye makeup because I just don't think it suits me. The names of the eye shadows all have a nod to nature/element themes, bar Buff and Chocolate... although chocolate does come from a bean so maybe it can just about pass?!
Buff: A matte yellow toned shade which acts as the perfect base for all eye makeup looks or to highlight the brow bone.
Camel:
A really lovely shimmery gold shade which I love to wear as I think it compliments my blue eyes really well.
Sand:
A champagne coloured shadow which is great for highlighting the eye area. I found this shade quite chalky and hard to get out of the pan at times but it is really pretty with it's flecks of shimmer throughout.
Dust:
A deep rose gold coloured shimmer shade with hints of copper. This is such a pretty shade and once again I think it looks lovely with my blue eyes.
Chocolate: A fawn coloured matte shade which looks lovely on the crease of the eye. This is also quite a chalky shade and isn't as pigmented as some of the others in the palette.
Topaz: A dark bronze shade with lots of shimmer. This shade is highly pigmented so a little on the eye is enough to give a huge effect.
Earth: A light gold shade with hints of brown. This is a lovely shade for day wear.
Storm: A deep grey shimmer shade with undertones of brown. I love this shade too, I'm such a fan of grey.
Silk: A very pale pink shade with hints of light grey. This is such a lovely shade, I like to wear this on its own as it's so pretty but it's great to use on the inside of the eye too for a bit of highlight.
Wave: A bronze shade with lots of flecks of shimmer. This isn't as pigmented as some of the others in the palette but it is buildable and can be blended with other shades to create a great look.
Thunder: A deep brown shade with purple undertones and lots of shimmer. This is a shade I don't wear as I think it's too dark for me but it would be lovely as part of a neutral smokey eye look if you're a fan of that look.
Onyz: A matte black shade which I'm afraid is far too harsh for me. If you can rock a shade like this and want a true black shadow then this is the one for you.
Considering that I got this palette for just €7.50 I think it's amazing for the price! It offers so many beautiful shades and to be honest I think some of it's shades are just as good as the Naked 2 and considering that that palette cost €46 then In the Buff is great value for money. I will be rocking some of the shades this palette offers this spring, notably Camel, Dust, Earth, Storm and Silk.
As this palette was such a bargain and I was able to get two for €15 I decided to pick one up for one of my lucky blog readers to win as part of my 2nd blogiversary giveaways, I may have some more lovelies from the W7 collection up for grabs later in the week too so keep your eyes peeled for that. To be in with a chance of winning a W7 In the Buff palette of your very own all you have to do is enter via the Rafflecopter below. This giveaway is open worldwide and will end on March 23rd. Best of luck to all who enter!
