I've fallen in love with vintage children's clothes as of late, especially if they're of the Beatrix Potter/Peter Rabbit variety. I've been scouting the internet looking for Beatrix Potter/Peter Rabbit originals and have been lucky enough to get my hands on some really special and beautiful pieces. These beautiful baby blue Peter Rabbit overalls with Peter Pan collar are probably my favourite find for my boy so far and I found them on Ebay. These are vintage from the 1970's and had never been worn, they even came with their tags still attached. How something so sweet never had the opportunity to be worn is beyond me so as soon as a sunny day arrived I had to get my boy in them.
Once again, like the vintage teddy bear overalls I've previously featured, these overalls are aged 24 months and they're slightly short on the leg - when did my son get so tall?! They fit great everywhere else though and the baby blue really made his eyes stand out. I teamed the overalls with his baby blue Peter Rabbit coat, another Ebay find and an absolute steal at just $4.99 (although the postage absolutely crippled me...). This is his second Peter Rabbit coat, the other one is too big for the moment and although this one is slightly on the larger side too it's nothing that can't be fixed by an ole roll up of the sleeves, "he'll grow into it!" as all us Irish mammies say!
I love that the overalls have a long leg on them, I can usually only find vintage boys pieces as shortalls or JonJons which aren't very ideal for the Irish weather so these are perfect for the cool-ish spring days. The jacket is quite light but will be perfect for spring and colder summer days too.
All I need now to match my boys little vintage outfits are so classic looking shoes, as, as you can see his regular shoes don't really go with them. I also need some white socks - why are these so impossible to find for boys?!
I think he looks super sweet in his little Peter Rabbit outfit, the baby blue really suits him and I think the vintage look really goes well with his curly hair.
I have some more Peter Rabbit/Beatrix Potter pieces on the way for him, I hope they'll look just as adorable as this outfit did. One is yellow for Easter, I just hope the weather will be good so he can actually wear it!
Peter Pan collars really suit him, I think he looks like a little doll. My little Peter Rabbit.
He is so cute.

ReplyDeleteHis hair is great. :D Plus those cute cheeks.
ReplyDeleteThese look so well made. I absolutely adore the peter pan collars on my little girl and I've had some incredible finds on Ebay as well. I understand how it happens people keep saving outfits for 'best' and then the little ones outgrow them before they've had a change to wear them. My little one has a wardrobe of vintage dresses for the next 3 sizes which I can't wait to put her in and my new years resolution was to stop saving things 'for best' and just enjoy all the beautiful clothes we have - even if we're just knocking about the house. I haven't searched any of the beatrix potter things on Ebay yet though.. so I must do so. We've been given some gorgeous Jemima Puddleduck items though.
