Saint Patrick's Day is upon us, the day when everyone loves to be Irish! Fun fact - my middle name is Patricia because I was born eight days before Saint Patrick's Day, so there's my special connection to the day! How it's already here I have no idea, this year is flying by just like last year. Thankfully Jacek has the day off again this year so we'll be going to the parade in the city later on - lets hope the rain holds off! I have an adorable little vintage velour green romper for Tyler Lee to wear and thankfully it fits perfectly - yay! I can't wait to get some pictures of him in it later. I wanted to share my Saint Patrick's Day mantle with you all. I really like dressing the mantlepiece with seasonal themes now, it's a fun thing to do, especially when there's little ones in the house. You'll have to excuse the pictures, my mantlepiece is the hardest place to photography in the whole house because it's on an angled wall in a room with very little light and not much space, so apologies for the less than perfect pictures. Nevertheless I hope you like the out and out Irishness of my mantlepiece.
I have my Lucky Shamrock Yankee Candle burning and I am loving the scent of freshly cut grass and rolling green hills, the holographic label is a really pretty touch too. I've just decorated with a shamrock garland I got for just €1.49 in Dealz. Two lays that we had lying around from previous Saint Patrick's Day celebrations, two little headbands with leprechaun themes, some of Tyler Lee's Irish themed books, his Irish teddy and Jacek's Sant Patrick's Day hat and pin. It's just a mantle filled with simple things but we also have a lot of memories surrounding these things so it makes it quite special for us.
The Mr. Men book is one we've been reading to Tyler Lee in the build up to Saint Patrick's Day, after all it wouldn't be St. Patrick's Day without a pesky leprechaun somewhere!
The leprechaun headband is what Tyler Lee will be wearing today, it was only €1.49 from Dealz too and it's so cute as it bobs about when he walks.
Paddy, the bear we brought Tyler Lee back from our trip to Dublin in January had to make an appearance on the mantlepiece.
So that's my St. Patrick's Day mantle in all it's glory. I think it's quite fun, it's nice to embrace the Paddy-whackery on St. Patrick's Day. To wherever you are in the world, if you're Irish or celebrating with us I hope you all have a great day.
"May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire".
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire".
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
