Although the cold weather is still with us, summer is just around the corner (we promise!), and when you’ve got a young family it is never too early to start planning your summer vacations. Vacations with toddlers are loads of fun, but they can be tricky to manage too. Your kids are at that challenging age where they are too old to just sit in a stroller all day, but still a little too young to do many of the standard family vacation activities.

Ireland

As part of a British Isles cruise, Ireland makes a wonderful stopping point for families with young kids, and is one of the best destinations in the world for a vacation with toddlers. As a relatively small country, you can pack a load of activities into one vacation, but the real joy for family vacations is found in the south. From the sandy beaches and craggy cliffs of the Dingle Peninsula to the magical coastal landscapes, rolling green hills, and sparkling lakes of the Ring of Kerry, Ireland will take your kids’ breath away. Your kids will love spotting castle ruins on nearby hills, driving through country lanes flanked by fields of sheep, and exploring the charming streets of Dublin.

 

Florida

Florida almost seems like it was designed for vacations with toddlers. Almost everywhere you turn there are wonderful places to visit and family-friendly activities to do. Orlando, with its array of magnificent theme parks is the highlight, of course, but there are loads of other options. Swim with manatees in Crystal River, enjoy the calm, crystal clear waters and pristine beaches of Sanibel Island, or enjoy the amazing wildlife of the Everglades. Your kids will love every minute.

 

California

Another state that is perfect for vacations with toddlers, California boasts almost as many family-friendly attractions as Florida. Try San Diego, with its amazing zoo or SeaWorld, or Carlsbad, another great Legoland site. Your little ones will also love exploring the enormous redwood forests in the Golden State - if they seem big to you, imagine how wondrous a giant sequoia will seem to a two-year old!
