We all want our homes to look the best they can and be as safe as possible for our families. There are lots of things we can do to update our homes quite cheaply and keep our homes safe, learn more about that here.

An outdated kitchen can let down the whole look and feel of your home. The kitchen is probably the most used room in a home, meaning it's also the room that gets the most wear and tear. Continual use of your worktops and cupboards can leave them looking tired and marked and heat exposure from your oven or stove can also do some damage such as warping to your cabinets and worktops.

Total kitchen replacements are never going to come cheap. Changing your appliances alone could fast break the bank. Not to mention that going without a kitchen for any period of time can cause headaches, especially if you have a family to feed and cook for.

Luckily, there are plenty of options for updating a kitchen without starting from scratch. Here are some easy ways to make your kitchen a more contemporary style -without breaking the bank!

Upgrade your equipment

It's amazing the overhaul a kitchen can get by simply updating an appliance or your kitchen equipment. If you're looking for a new fridge, cooker or dishwasher, I recommend shopping in Black Friday or January sales to get the best deals.

If you're big into cooking, you may think of updating your kitchen wear or utensils such as mixers, knives, etc. and having them on display on your worktops. You can shop for the best s35v filet knife or other high quality accessories for your kitchen.

Make sure your kitchen is up to date with all it's equipment and safety features too. Winters Instruments could help you find what you need.

Invest in the right tiles

Your first stop on this list should be tile central. Floor and wall tiles for kitchens are all the rage at the moment. By taking time choosing the right designs, you can update your kitchen with this change alone. All you need to do is read up on which tiles are most contemporary at the moment.

If you don't have money for new tiles, you can get self-adhesive stick ons that look just as good from local bargain stores. These can be as little as €2 a pack and they can totally transform the look of your kitchen.

Change the look of your cupboards

Refitting your cupboards can be a hard and expensive task, but it might not be necessary considering how easily you could change those cupboard handles or give a new lick of paint to your cupboards.

Rusting or old-fashioned handles alone can date a kitchen, yet, with little more than a screwdriver, you can change the whole look of your kitchen cupboards.

You can find cupboard paint quite cheaply in hardware stores and in a whole host of colours too - just make sure to sand down the cupboard doors before painting to ensure the best finish.

Refresh your worktops

Worktops can become worn down and dated quite quickly, but again, they can be a hassle to replace. You can pick up vinyl wraps for worktops in lots of different finish and colour options and these are easy to fit to your worktops, giving them an instant transformation.

You could also replace your sink and this can make a huge difference to the look of your worktops and your whole kitchen in general. Traditional metal sinks are out of fashion and people now favour Belfast sinks or white ceramic sinks. Thankfully these sinks aren't too expensive either. These can modernise the look of your kitchen and depending on which taps you choose, can be a lovely style statement too.

Incorporate an island

It’s a fact that the majority of modern kitchens make use of islands. These are a fantastic way to add more space to your kitchen, without having a complete refit. It can give you a lot more space to store your kitchen accessories and give you more working space too.
