Trends in fashion always come and go and in most cases, make a come back again a couple of decades later. However, there are some style staples for every woman's wardrobe that never go out of fashion.
These are pieces that are versatile, can we worn with almost everything, can be dressed up or dressed down and will last for years to come.
No matter what your personal style, whether you prefer feminine floral styles, casual everyday styles or even gothic clothing, these are pieces of clothing that can be worn by every woman and which are perfect for giving you a whole host of different outfit choices with just a few key pieces.
The first style staple is a plain white t-shirt. This is a piece which will literally go with anything. Pair it with jeans for a classic laid-back look, wear it under slip dresses to create a layered look - it can literally go with anything and be worn all year round.
Another style staple are Chelsea boots. These are a personal favourite of mine and are a great way of transitioning summer dresses to autumn and winter. Team with tights and a knitted cardigan for the ultimate cosy look on a cold day or wear with jeans for a more casual everyday look.
The little black dress is probably the most 'famous' style staple there is for women to have in their wardrobe and with it being perfect for a whole manner of occasions, it's not hard to see why. You can take your little black dress from day to night by changing up your accessories and footwear before you go out, making it the ultimate versatile piece.
A pair of good-fitting jeans in a wash of your choice are another great style staple for a woman to own. They can be dressed up or down and once you find a pair that fit you just right they can be the comfiest thing to wear on a daily basis.
A knitted jumper or cardigan is a definite style staple for those of us who live in colder climates. They're perfect for 'adding' to any outfit and transitioning your favourite pieces from spring and summer to autumn and winter.
A button up shirt is another great piece to have in your wardrobe. It can be plain or embellished, made of lace, etc. but it's a great piece of clothing for dressing up or down and wearing with different pieces too.
If you like dresses, a wrap dress is the most flattering of all dress shapes, and again, like most of the pieces I've mentioned so far, it can be worn as a casual piece or dressed up for fancier occasions too. Wrap dresses are extremely comfortable and so flattering to all figures too. There are so many beautiful wrap dresses available and in lots of different fabrics too, so you're sure to find the perfect one for you.
A good quality, windproof and waterproof raincoat is also a must in any woman's wardrobe.
More modern style staples for women for the times we're living in are good quality loungewear, leggings or jeggings for casual and comfortable looks and luxe sportswear. Good quality flat shoes and runners or sneakers are more modern style staples that just work for busy women who seek comfort and functionality in what they're wearing. These are all favourites of mine as a busy mother.
