Boys' Bedroom Inspiration ♥

Back in November we moved into my childhood home. The house we were renting went up for sale and was sold within two weeks of being on the market, so we were extremely lucky that we could move into my childhood home - a beautiful two-hundred and something year old farmhouse in the countryside.

Living here has been such a positive change for our family. Tyler and Beau were able to have bedrooms decorated as we wished, for once. Living in rented houses all their lives meant that they always had magnolia walls (I despise magnolia...) and their rooms were not done to our own style tastes.

When we knew we were moving here the boys, especially Tyler, were so excited about the prospect of being able to have some coloured walls in their room and Tyler requested blue. This is how he room looks right now. There's still lots to do in it but for now it looks quite lovely and he's so happy with it.

Tyler is blessed with the biggest room in the house - quite a contrast to the small room he had in our old house which left him no floor space to play. He has so much room in his new room and totally makes the most of it by having all his toys out!

His room has the most charming and quirky door too, an original farmhouse door that's slightly bent, has a crack in his and lots of charm. It's a gorgeous addition to his room and such a great farmhouse feature.

I always wanted him to have a daybed, so when Harvey Norman had their sale back in November we picked him up their Katherine daybed with a trundle for any sleepovers he may have for a total of 300 and something euro - such a bargain!

It's such a lovely bed and most importantly he loves it.

Next to his bed I have his cubed unit which we picked up in Argos quite cheaply a couple of years ago, this holds all his books - which I culled before we moved. I have his Toniebox, his moon light and ice-cream night light displayed on top.

The blue is on one wall of his room and it's 'Hydrangea Blue' by Valspar. It's such a gorgeous shade of blue, I love it. The rest of his room is white and I went with a sea and sky theme for his room again. I'd love to add more prints and some more accessories to his room but we'll do this over time. He also needs a new carpet, but again, this will be done in time.

Tyler's prints are from Posterlounge and they're so lovely, perfect for our little boy who loves the sea. There's an Aquarius print on the wall too to represent his starsign. I love that we were able to find some personal prints for him and I must search for some more.

His bedding is also from Harvey Norman and I loved the beach stripes look of it. I wanted to make a calming space for him to sleep in and I love how it looks. He has far too many toys and not enough storage but again, over time we'll find storage solutions and finish off his room.

For now he loves it and it's a lovely boys room that's quite fitting for a very old farmhouse.

  1. What a charming room. Love the decor and the prints especially. What a gorgeous room. A 200 year old countryside cottage sounds amazing, must be strange (and nice) to move back into your old home :)
