Top Six Family-Friendly Activities in Orlando

Known as the theme park capital of the world, Orlando is one of the most incredible places to visit for people of all ages. Attracting families across the globe, there are so many exciting locations and attractions to discover. Whether you want to visit the infamous theme parks such as Disney World, discover the incredible wildlife or relax at an all-inclusive day resort, I’ve put together this list of the top six family-friendly popular attractions in Orlando!

Visit Disney World
The first most obvious activity is to visit a theme park! Orlando boasts the most amazing parks, all of which include family-friendly rides for children of all ages. Disney World is most suitable for kids of any age, and although there are height restrictions for some of the rides, there really is so much to do at Disney besides the rides.

From the fantastic parades to the end of day fireworks, as well as character meets, Disney World will leave a smile on anyone’s face. Kid-friendly rides include Toy Story Mania, Frozen Ever After and It’s A Small World. Days at Disney can get tiring, so be sure to pack lots of snacks to keep the kids entertained in the queues. There are plenty of villas near Disney World for you to relax and recuperate at the end of a busy day exploring the most magical place on earth!

Do Something Weird & Wonderful at WonderWorks
A cross between a theme park and a museum, WonderWorks combines education with entertainment and allows the children to get hands-on with over 100 exhibits. With six zones dedicated to all senses, discover what it would feel like to be in a hurricane, step into a spacesuit and play a giant piano. Situated on International Drive, if you do plan on visiting, I-Drive is filled with numerous other family-friendly activities too.

Attend a Show
Orlando is home to some amazing family-friendly shows, including shows at the theme parks as well as individual shows situated across the state. Full of action, drama and music, it depends on the style of show you want to see. Pirates Dinner Show is a great option, performed on a giant pirate ship the show features stunts, acrobats and bundles of comedy, making it the perfect show to delight the young and the old!

Situated on CityWalk in Universal, Blue Man Group is also one of the highest-rated shows to see in Orlando. Delivering a multi-sensory experience, combining comedy with dance and rock music, over 35 million people have seen the show, so it’s definitely a must!

Spend the Day at ICON Park
With over 40 restaurants and a plethora of attractions, if you’re in Orlando for more than a week, spending a day or two at ICON Park helps to break up your holiday. Take a ride on the iconic wheel and get panoramic views across the city, snap some pictures with celebs at Madame Tussauds and come face-to-face with turtles at SEA LIFE!

Visit Gatorland
Orlando has no shortage of wildlife attractions, but one of the most well-known animals in Florida are Alligators! Gatorland is dedicated to the infamous creatures, situated close to the airport it’s a popular attraction for visiting on your last day in Orlando. With over 2,000 Alligators, amongst other animals such as snakes and birds, there is plenty to do at The Alligator Capital of the World®. With a zip line ride, many animal shows and an adventure hour, you have the option to get up close and personal with Gators!

Relax at Discovery Cove
A unique all-inclusive day resort, at Discovery Cove you’ll be able to snorkel with the fish, swim with dolphins and feed the birds! With breakfast, lunch and unlimited snacks and drinks included, as well as towels, sun cream and snorkels, a day at Discovery Cove is like no other. However, the resort is only limited to 1,000 guests per day, so it’s crucial to book in advance!

From incredible theme parks to animal encounters and fascinating shows, with so much to see and do in the Sunshine State, it’s no wonder that over 75 million people visit every year!
