Our Stay At The Family-Friendly Woodlands House Hotel, Adare, Co. Limerick ♥

*We were offered a complimentary stay in the Woodlands Hotel but were not asked for a blog post, etc. However, we loved the hotel so much that I wanted to share all about it for any families looking for a perfect, family-friendly place to stay within Ireland.

This day last week we went off on a little family staycation to the beautiful town of Adare in Co. Limerick. We stayed in the beautiful and very family-friendly Woodlands House Hotel which is just a few minutes drive from the centre of of Adare village - which is lovely and very charming with it's historic places of interest and pretty thatched cottages.

I have to admit, I had never thought of Limerick as a 'go-to' place for a family staycation within Ireland before and it seems to be a bit of a forgotten county in terms of landmarks, etc. but honestly, it's such a pretty place and we spotted so many historic places and cool places to visit along our drive from Cork to Adare so we will be back one day.

The Woodlands Hotel is one of the most family-friendly hotels I've ever been to and we were immediately put at ease by the helpful and friendly staff who gave us a warm welcome to the hotel. I think it's always a great peace of mind to parents when children are welcomed into a place so warmly, because it can be so daunting travelling with kids and worrying about how they'll behave, etc.

On arrival the boys were given activity bags with crayons, colouring books, jellies, etc. inside and they were so happy with these and it kept them busy once we got to our room. The Woodland's also has a free kids club (must be pre-booked) which is available to children aged 4-12 years. We didn't send the boys here during our stay as obviously Beau couldn't go being only 3 and we didn't want to send Tyler on his own.

When we got to our room I was blown away by how spacious and beautifully decorated it was. We got to stay in one of the Woodland's family rooms and it really was such a great room to enjoy a family staycation in and had everything we needed.

The boys had their own room, which was a great aspect to the room. They were happy out with a single bed each and a TV to enjoy too and there was plenty of room on the floor to play. I had initially requested a cot for Beau as he's only been sleeping in his 'big boy bed' (which you can see here) for a few weeks and I was unsure how he would take to staying in a hotel bed but he was fine and the cot wasn't needed but there was plenty of space for it in the room - important to remember if you've younger children.

The furniture was beautiful - it was all mirrored and looked quite luxurious. There was plenty of seating within the room and the TV had plenty of channels. We were also provided with robes and slippers in our room.

The room also had coffee and tea making facilities, an iron and ironing board and all the usually things you'd expect to find in a hotel room.

The bathroom was also lovely and spacious and had a double sink, bath with jets and a separate shower. The bathroom was supplied with Voya toiletries which was a real treat as I love Voya but it's quite costly (too costly for my usual budget!) so I was happy to see it on offer in the hotel and took advantage of the products available to us - I enjoyed a lovely bubbly bath with the products and it was great to just relax.

Before dinner we went for a swim in the Woodland's fab leisure centre which boasts two pools (kids and normal) and a gym. The boys loved swimming and there were plenty of floats, diving sticks, etc. for them to have fun with. Having a swimming pool within a hotel is always a big plus when it comes to a family stay and they boys actually visited the pool twice during our stay. Towels are provided for guest.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner in Timmy Mac's, the bistro within the hotel on our night's stay (our meal was complimentary). Again, the kids received a warm welcome and were given crayons and a colouring sheet to keep them busy. The decor of the bistro is lovely and the food was delicious. The boys enjoyed some of the lovely options from the kids menu, which offered some great healthy options, as well as the usual favourites. It was great to see such an extensive kids menu because usually there's only a handful of options for kids but the Woodlands Hotel makes sure that everyone is catered for.

Mine and Jacek's meals were also delicious and although we sadly didn't get to enjoy a dessert (devasted because they had baked Alaska!) the options sounded amazing. Our boys just aren't used to dining out so I'm surprised they lasted for the first two courses to be honest so we counted ourselves lucky!

After dinner the boys were treated to a bouncing castle in the hotel garden which was a great way of tiring them out before bed!

After a lovely and comfortable night's sleep we enjoyed a delicious breakfast - again in Timmy Mac's Bistro. It was buffet style, which I always think is great for families and everything on offer was delicious. There was a selection of hot and cold foods, cereals, pastries, fruit, etc. so everyone was happy.

We then went off to explore the organic farm on the grounds of the Woodland's, which was so beautiful and so lovely to see as part of a hotel.

We walked the fairy trail with the boys and then went down to the pet farm where they got to see chickens, a peacock, goats, rabbit, etc. They loved it and I've never seen anything like it at a hotel before so it was very unique and a great aspect to any other families who enjoy the outdoors and getting a bit of fresh air even when staying somewhere for the night.

Before we headed off on our travels - the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren are only an hour and a half away from the Woodlands Hotel so we used this opportunity to tick these places off our bucket list, I visited the beautiful Revas Spa on the hotel grounds.

The spa was so beautifully decorated and relaxing and I was treated to the monthly special which was the Sea Breeze (€109), which consisted of full body sea breeze scrub, ocean wave back massage, refreshing mini facial and 1 hour thermal suite experience.

I have to say, the sea breeze scrub made my skin feel the softest it's ever had in it's life! The scrub was made using the ingredients from the organic farm on the hotel grounds and I thought this was absolutely fantastic! I actually asked if the scrub was available for purchase but sadly it wasn't - please make it for sale Woodlands because I'd buy it in a heartbeat! I thought it was a great spa package deal and the treatments themselves lasted for 85 minutes which is fantastic value! I'd highly recommend a visit to the Revas Spa.

Our stay at the Woodland's Hotel could not have better. Everything was perfect. From the room itself, to the leisure centre, the grounds, the bistro we had everything we needed for a lovely family staycation and the lovely village of Adare only being a few minutes away was a great bonus too (Adare has a great natural playground if you're ever visiting and want somewhere for the kids to stretch their legs).

The Woodland's have great offers available for stays and they're so affordable too, making it a great option for families who are looking for value but with all the little luxuries everyone loves too.

Davids dad was there always til he died, his mom too, its been 5 yrs since ive been 4 years since ive been back there so im not sure if myself if his mom still working there. We love the place so much. I had my wedding reception there too in 2014. They go beyond & above you down to the very last detail of all the decorations you brought out and the way you want the recetion decor down to the last diamond flower colour of your chairs etc,They are just such a fabulousy family run hotel. I think thats what makes it so friendly and so well run.We didnt get to bed until am the next morning lol i know maddness, but you only get married once. They were soo nice they gave us the wedding suite free of charge the 2nd night which was lovely of them so we didnt need to try get up and out by 12 like every other hotel. We would have had so much to clear out with presents clothes you know everything from the wedding day. At least we got to relax. Thats how good David is!! I would recommend this hotel a 100 times over if i could. But its definally a 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hotel. I love the place. I live in west Cork Bantry. Because I my just is from Bantry. So I thought I would of got married in west cork. But seen as I'm a daddy's girl still in my 30's lol he wanted me to leave from the family home & think bout it it seemed right.I went to the church I had Holy Communion,Confirmation & secondary School Graduation, So it only seemed right to get married there too & Take it to the one and only place the deserves our business but also a hotel I love and you know your going to be taking care of from start to finish.
