*This post is in collaboration with Sunbites, however, as always, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are 100% my own.
Kindness is such an important thing in this world. As a mother, it's so important for me to instill the meaning of kindness into my boys from a young age and to help them practice it in their everyday lives as much as they can.
Whether it be something as small as a kind word in someones ear, a random act of kindess done out of goodness of heart or a big community gesture of kindess, all kindness, no matter it's size, it always so appreciated by the receiver - and it never feels anything but lovely when you're able to make someone happy with your words and actions.
I try to practice kindness whenever I can in my life, even though my efforts may be small, but I truly believe that even the smallest efforts can make a big change to someone's life.
The lovely people at Sunbites recently sent me a fabulous hamper filled with their delicious wholegrain snacks in various flavours, a solar charger (because we have to be kind to the Earth too!) and a stunning chilli plant (which now sits proudly out in my back garden).
Sunbites believes that good grows and is championing the power of a little good through it's partnership with CARE International. Sunbites has partnered with CARE International to launch the Light Her Path initiative, aimed at giving girls the education they deserve - a fabulous cause to support I'm sure you'll agree.
This brilliant initiative helps girls to receive the education they deserve by building learning powers that are powered by solar panels - helping to do their bit for the environment too.
There's a little bit of 'taste good' and 'do good' in every Sunbite and Sunbites 'do good' attitude has really inspired me.
Take last weekend for example. I was busy scrolling through Facebook, as I do many times during the day... but one particular post caught by attention. It was by a lady who had posting in a local mum group about her sons birthday presents being stolen.
She was looking to see if anyone had two toys in particular that she could buy so as to replace the stolen gifts. I noticed that one of the toys was a toy that my boys had two of - one each if you will. It was a fire engine toy and although my boys are really into fire engines and vehicles, I decided there and then to message the lady to offer her son one of the toys. I told her I didn't want anything for it and that I just wanted to give it to him - hoping it might bring him some joy after having his presents stolen by some horrible person.
The lady accepted my gesture and I really do hope it made her son happy. It also gave me the opportunity to explain the situation to Tyler and show him how happy it can make someone to share your toys with them. It made me feel good to do something for a fellow parent and her son, because putting myself in her shoes, if someone had stolen my child's birthday presents I would be absolutely devastated. I know things can be replaced, but it's just the whole horrible act of it all isn't it?
When the lady arrived to collect the toy fire engine she brought a big bag of jellies for the boys as a thank you. I told her there was no need at all but this in turn made Tyler happy too. Kindness being met with kindness and happiness all round. A prime example of how #GoodGrows.
