Ways To Make Your Living Room Cosy For Autumn ♥

It’s safe to say that summer is sadly over. While this year we definitely did get to enjoy a good old-fashioned summer with heat and endless sunny days (yay!), autumn  has very much graced us with it's presence already and the days are much cooler now.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, because there’s just something about the autumnal months that can be so cosy and it leaves you just wanted to draw the curtains, light a candle and snuggle up under a throw on the couch.

It’s usually at this time of year that you will want to make some changes to your home decor - transitioning from airy and bright summer styles, to cosy, comfy and welcoming autumnal vibes.

If you think that this is something that you really want to do, here are few ideas to help make your living room a whole lot cosier this autumn.

1. Change your accent colour
A lot of people use accent colours around their homes to achieve a certain mood in a room - or perhaps they just want to highlight their favourite colour. Maybe you have blue scatter cushion or candles dotted around the room? Well, then here is your first opportunity to really change the space up for autumn. Why not bring in some warmer or cosier colours? Great options here would be oranges, reds, browns, and even greens. They’re all very autumnal colours and they also feel very cosy too!

2. Keep the heat in
The next thing that you need to do is to make sure that you can keep the heat in. This means that you’re going to want to look at the space and see where you need to make improvements to keep the heat in. You may want to look into how to install roman blinds, having thicker blackout curtains or even getting better insulation. By blocking out the windows, you may find that you can keep the heat in the space a lot better and have you staying warm and cosy on even the coldest of autumnal nights.

3. Bring in more texture
The next thing that you’ll want to do in your living room is to make sure that you can work in some texture. How amazing will your living room be when you have so much more warmth in there or you’ve got softer or cozier soft furnishings in faux fur, wool, cotton, or cashmere? All of these fabrics are so lovely to sit on and snuggle up in, helping to create the perfect cosiest space to relax in.

4. Up the temperature
You may even want to think about actually bringing in some heat too! Maybe you want to upgrade your fireplace area or the heating system that you have? When you have something new to focus on in the room it can make you feel cosier overall and there's nothing cosier than having an open fire lighting in the autumn and winter months.

5. Add some mood lighting
When the days are dark you want to have some light in the house, so adding some mood lighting to your living room can really help cosy up the space. I love having fairy lights on top of my mantlepiece and having small lamps in different areas of the room to give a subtle light.

5. Get comfortable
And lastly, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re as comfortable as you can be in your living space. During the winter months you definitely want to be sure that you’re able to enjoy your lounging area more. When it’s cold outside you definitely don’t want to spend a lot of time outside. So it’s so important for you to be able to enjoy the rooms in your home and if you want to be comfortable after a long, cold, wet day, you have to have a sofa that you can relax on.
