Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet | Review ♥

*We were sent the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet for review, however, as always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are 100% my own.

As a family, we love our tech. Being a blogger means that I have to work with technology everyday and even though I love for my kids to be outside enjoying the great outdoors, there are just some parts of the day when we all need a little down time and they love to play games or watch learning videos on the tablet.

My boys have no interest in watching TV, instead they've embraced tablets for entertainment and this is why having a good one for them to use is essential. This is where the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet comes in.

Having launched in June 2018, the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet comes with a 10.1" 1080p Full HD screen - a great size for kids who favour watching the tablet over the TV. It comes with a powerful processor, 32 GB of storage - great for saving their favourite games, apps and videos and it has up to 10 hours of battery life - no more sighs of - "The tablet needs to be charged...".

As if that wasn't enough to convince you how fab it was already, it also comes with a year of Amazon Fire for Kids Unlimited (worth £3.99 a month) - this offers over 5,000 age-appropriate (the most important aspect for me as a parent!) books, educational apps, videos and games.

This also gives kids access to tens of thousands of curated kid-friendly YouTube videos and websites - curated being the key word here as I think children's safety is so important when it comes to tablet devices and I don't want them stumbling across anything non child-friendly.

The device also provides tools just for parents such as a parent dashboard, discussion cards and Amazon Fire for Kids parental controls, which give parents the ability to manage time limits by activity, adjust age filters, set educational goals, set a bedtime for when the Fire for Kids shuts down for the day, a security code to unlock the tablet and more.

I love that this is a device aimed at kids but which gives parents the ultimate control on how and when it is used, an important feature I think as the kids can just get so into playing and watching stuff on the tablet that they'd stay on it all day if they could!

Fire for Kids also comes equipped with a kid-proof case and a 2 year guarantee and all for the very great price of just £199.99 - so do we rate it?

In a word - YES. My boys, 5 and 2, absolutely love the Fire for Kids. They both use it for different reasons - Tyler (5) to watch videos and play games and Beau (2) uses the educational apps to learn colours and numbers.

I think it's great that Fire for Kids allows them to read books of their choosing, choose what games they want to play and recognise their favourite characters in the videos section by character or interest thumbnails. This then takes kids to a curated selection of videos for that particular character or interest.

They love that it's a larger sized tablet and the kid-proof case is such a great addition as with smaller children the occasional accidental drop will happen, but the Fire for Kids is protected.

Tyler loves Fireman Sam and he finds it great that he has all his Fireman Sam videos in one place. Whereas, Beau loves cars and vehicles, so finds it easy to find videos to watch himself if he presses on the vehicles thumbnail. It's such a kid-friendly device and so easy to use.

As some of the content has to be downloaded, there is the option to turn off automatic downloading - meaning kids won't be spending a small fortunate on apps, books and games unknowingly, saving parents the headache (and heartache!) of a huge bill!

You can also download videos to watch on the go - an essential for all our long car journeys and travels throughout the summer and this is just another fab feature of the Fire for Kids.

With over 5,000 books, apps, games and videos curated for kids, there will be no more - "I'm bored" in our house!

The 2 year guarantee is another game-changer for this tablet. This means that if it gets broken (which, lets face it, with young kids is a huge possibility!) you can return it to Amazon and they will replace it, no questions asked. How good is that?!

The Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet is such a fab bit of tech and the kids absolutely love it! It's such a welcome edition in our house and with the cold and rainy days of autumn and winter gracing us already, it will make those indoor days a whole lot more entertaining and educational for the kids - and that can only be a good thing!

I'd highly recommend this tablet to parents who are looking for a larger style tablet for their kids that's easy to use, has tons of great features and content and which also gives parents the peace of mind that they can control the usage of the tablet and what their kids can watch or play.

  1. This looks really good. My kids use the Huwai and IPad tablet. However all the apps are out of date and would be great to have something more kids orientated. I didn't think the Fire would actually work in Ireland so it's good to see that it does.
