For four years now I've been putting together a little Easter egg hunt in the woods for my boys.
It's a tradition I began way back in 2015 when Tyler was just a little, curious two year old and it's something we've done every year since. Last year was the first year of Beau joining in - having missed Easter the previous year as he wasn't born until mid-May. He was such an adorable, chubby little babe last year, sitting next to his big brother scoffing chocolate treats.
This year though, he was more than ready to join in and help Tyler find all the eggs and treats I had hidden amongst the trees, moss and branches. He also though, maybe unsurprisingly, took a shine to my Easter decorations and tried to eat them, the pup!
We chose a beautifully sunny and mild day to have our egg hunt. I had read that the weather was going to be bad for Easter Sunday (but now it looks as though it may be okay), so we had our egg hunt a week early. I was glad to be honest as Jacek was off work and it meant that we could enjoy the moment as a family.
Tyler and Beau had great fun searching the eggs and Beau immediately found one and picked it with such joy. Tyler had a basket to collect them all and once they were all found the boys sat down between the trees eating their findings.
Every year we do this, yet every year is just as magical as the next. All our egg hunt really is is some old handmade bunting I picked up at a car boot sale in Jersey years ago, some cheap decorations from Dealz, a basket and some woodland surroundings... but seeing the look of joy on my boys' faces as they search for chocolate treats and then scoff them down with great enjoyment, is absolutely priceless.
It doesn't take a whole load of effort to make magical childhood memories, but I know these will be the moments they'll remember forever and that makes my heart happy.
