The Ultimate Spots to Stay for Your Family Getaway to London ♥

The UK’s capital attracts visitors from all over the world, with a new record of 19 million tourists visiting the city in 2016. It’s a vibrant place for both young and old, with plenty of things to do and attractions to see during your stay there. There’s so much, in fact, that you might struggle thinking of where to stay in the city.
Here are some areas that you should consider staying in when you’re heading to London with your family, and why:

The City of London
Of course, the city of London has plenty of sightseeing opportunities. The London Eye, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London – these are all iconic buildings and structures that are instantly-recognisable from film and TV. You can spend an entire weekend with the kids exploring what the city of London has to offer.
The Barbican Centre is also nearby if you want to delve into some culture, with events involving dance, film, music, theatre and visual arts to interest the full family. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in London, the centre of the city is a great spot to choose.
Mayfair
When looking for accommodation in London, stay in total luxury in Mayfair. If you choose one of the serviced apartments in Mayfair by the Urban Retreat Apartments, you could be in a gorgeous penthouse apartment with a private steam room. Plus, there’s bars, restaurants and shops right on your doorstep.
To entertain the kids, arrange a visit to the nearby Hyde Park where there’s usually many events in the calendar, as well as leisure activities like horse riding and boating. You’re also in close proximity to London Zoo so your kids can meet the penguins, lions and gorillas – which honestly, the adults can enjoy too!
Kensington & Chelsea
This royal borough is the perfect place to stay if you’re a family that loves to learn. With the Natural History Museum, Victoria & Albert Museum and the Science Museum all on the same street nearby, you could spend a whole day discovering the extensive exhibitions on offer.
If you fancy spending some time in the sun, you’re close to Kensington Gardens, one of London’s eight Royal parks. You can admire the contemporary art and architecture at the gallery, the beautiful Albert memorial and kids will enjoy the huge wooden pirate ship and sculptures at Diana Playground.
Also, if your visit is planned for May, we’d recommend trying to catch Chelsea in Bloom – a world-class floral art show that will fill your visit with a burst of gorgeous colour and scents.
Using our top tips, plan a trip to London that’s fun for all the family by staying close to all the restaurants, shops and fun activities that the city has to offer!

  1. London is my favourite city in the world and I can't wait to go there & show it to my son.
He's 2 so I'll wait a few years but am definitely looking forward to going with him.
    Love Kensington!
