Degustabox | January 2016 ♥

My January Degustabox arrived the other day and it's always a happy moment when it arrives and I get to see what surprises are inside. I'm the first to admit that I'm a very picky eater and I'm not very open to trying new foods and flavours, my motto being "always stick with what you know". However, since I began receiving a monthly Degustabox I've found some new foods that I have loved for myself, notably Belvita soft bakes (so delicious!) and for my fussy toddler too - it's been great finding snack foods and such for him through Degustabox.

Included in January's Degustabox were -

Yushoi Snapea Rice Sticks | Sweet Chilli & Lemon (£2) - these are a baked snack made using green peas and are a healthier alternative to fried potato crisps. My son loves snacking on things like this so I'm sure he'll love these.

Coldpress Golden Delicious Apple Juice (£1.40) - I've begun drinking apple juice as I've read that it helps with gallstones (which I possibly suffer from, just waiting for the ultrasound), so it was great to see this included in this months box. This is a "cold pressed" drink, meaning it retains more nutrients than conventional pasteurised apple juices.

Amoy Taste of Asia | Malaysian Laksa & Thai Massaman Curry Cooking Sauces (£1.79 each) - we're big fans of Asian food and regularly have curries and stir-frys for dinner so it was great to see these included. We've never tried the Amoy brand but these sauces do sound delicious.

Fruit Bowl Blackcurrant Flakes (£2) - Fruit Bowl is a brand we're familiar with as our son loves their snacks. He loves these little blackcurrant flakes and they're the perfect healthy snack option for him for preschool.

Finn Crisp Original | Thin Sourdough Rye Crispbreakd (£1.20) - these are such a great and healthy lunchtime option and are perfect with cream cheese, ham and other toppings. These are made from wholegrain, perfect for us as a family as we don't eat white breads, etc. These are also low in fat.

Conscious Chocolate | Plain Jane Organic Raw Chocolate Bar (£3) - it's always lovely to see a sweet treat included in the Degustabox and this chocolate is raw, organic, vegan, handmade and truffle-like - sounds lovely and artisan doesn't it? I received the Plain Jane bar which is a smooth, plain chocolate bar, perfect for sharing with my toddler.

Slim Noodles (£2.49) - Slim Noodles are the UK's #1 health product and they are made from organic Konjac flour and oat fibre. These are a healthy alternative to regular noodles and have zero carbs and only 9 calories per 100g serving. These are perfect for a healthy lunch or dinner option.

Jourdans Country Crisp Fruit & Nut (£2.69) - we've been looking to try new breakfast cereals (I think we're all sick of porridge at this stage!) and this cereal, packed with crunchy golden oat clusters with fruit and crunchy nuts throughout. These sound delicious and I'm looking forward to trying them out.

Clarks Carbon Fruit Syrup (£2.39) - this is a naturally sweet, low GI syrup that is made from extracting the fruits from the Mediterranean Carob plant (I have to admit I've never heard of this before). This syrup can be used to sweeten drinks and can also be used in baking. It's suitable for vegan, vegetarians and diabetics too.

Tsingtao Beer (£2) - this is a product I'll be passing on to Jacek as obviously I can't drink at the moment and I'm not a fan of beer anyway. This is supposedly internationally recognised as the finest beer in China and is incredibly smooth to drink. Jacek loves trying out different beers and drinks so I know he'll love this.

So that was January's Degustabox. I thought these was a great box with a lot of variety and healthy foods included, perfect for the New Year cleanse that everyone wants after the Christmas season.
