Weekenders | Flowers, Bubbles & Sunny Strolls ♥

I began featuring my WEEKENDERS posts in the summer of last year and honestly, it's so lovely looking back at these posts, seeing how we spent our weekends and how we made the most of these days together. I had wanted to introduce the feature back onto the blog and was only going to do so in the summer again, but having been inspired by the beginning of a new year I've decided to make it a weekly thing for all year round.

This weekend was quite a relaxing one and although we didn't do much on Friday and Saturday as it was pouring with rain (it has been here in Ireland ever since November!), we took the opportunity to get out in the fresh air on Sunday when the sun began peeking through the clouds, giving us a break from the damp and dreary weather.

This weekend was very photography based. I was familiarising Tyler Lee with the various cameras we have around the house (toy and real), in the hope that he may gain a passion for photography too. It seems to have worked to some extent because he's now asking for a picture whenever he sees me with a camera in hand.

This weekend was also full of little surprises and sweet treats. I was feeling quite down on Saturday and I have no idea why, probably new year blues mixed with a variety of hormones... then Jacek went to the shop and came home with a beautiful bunch of brightly coloured roses for me and the gesture brought tears to my eyes. They're beautiful and the mixture of colours actually reminds me of autumn. Jacek also brought Tyler Lee and I home chocolate slices one day (or doorbells as I call them) and Tyler Lee declared they were "delicous!" and yesterday evening he got us some more sweet treats to enjoy, they also got Tyler Lee's seal of approval!

Tyler Lee's new obsession is having a bath, shower or wanting to wash his hands and face in the sink. Right now it's a bit of fun for him but I really hope he doesn't go too OCD with it! To jazz up his bath time I gave him the Magic Wand from Lush and he loved running it under the water and making lots of bubbles. He was even putting the bubbles on his hair - which I think looked super cute! I think I'll have to stock up on the bubbly products from Lush for his 'splash splash' time.

Once I saw the sun on Sunday (no pun intended!) I got Tyler Lee and I ready and bundled into the car. I had no idea where to take him as the majority of the roads were flooded or closed due to damage but we ended up in a spot that we've gone to a few times before and where my Dad used to take me when I was a little girl. Tyler Lee took off running down the hill, stopping for a few pictures along the way. The road is inaccessible to cars, as you can see it's torn to pieces from all the bad weather of the years, so this spot is quite secluded and we were the only ones around. As we walked down he held my hand and said "Wuv oo mummy", it was the sweetest moment. We ended up down on the beach where Tyler Lee liked nothing better than throwing stones into the water. I spotted the grey rain clouds coming in over the woods and decided it was time to head back to the car. Up the steep hill we climbed, him holding onto my hand and jumping in the puddles. We made it back to the car just in time before the rain came - perfect timing as always.

This weekend was such a lovely one and a great start to our year. These Weekenders posts really make me want to make the most out of our weekends and I love writing up about them and reliving the memories all over again.

I may make Weekenders a weekly linky again if anyone is interested in joining in too. If you are, please do let me know in the comments.

  1. What a lovely way to really focus your time and make sure you make the most of every weekend. We got my 2 year old a toddler camera for Christmas. He loves taking photos of the most random of things! It's so funny looking through his pictures to see what he classes as photo-worthy!

  5. Okay now you're making me feel lazy. All I found time for this weekend was cleaning and cooking. I really need to slow down and do some fun stuff like that once in awhile. I probably need it as much as my kids do.

  6. I'm in love with the photo of your son in the place where your dad took you when you were a little girl. Those boats in the background, your beautiful child - the entire photo is lovely (of course, all of your photos are awesome!). I never tire of seeing those curls or seeing your photos. Those sweets look pretty tasty, too.

  9. Your little one is such a cutie, love that head of curls. I love the idea of a weekend recap, that is a great way to share your life. We had un-seasonable warm weather here in the DC area {US} during the holiday. Today we are down in the 30's.

  15. Love then donuts. Looks like you had a nice weekend. We didn't get to go out. Only place Matthew went was to the play centre with daddy. Actually he went away on a little trip with daddy to meet his friend in castlebar and tried playing some tennis. Hubby's passion. So chloe and I had some girly time.

  36. I would love to visit Ireland someday. I can't believe how much it has been raining there. I hope you all get a break from the rain soon. The bubble wand sounds so cool and I know my sons would just love that. I think the Weekends post sounds awesome and I would love to join in! I live in Chicago and it has been 28 degrees or less, so we haven't been outside to much. I miss the fresh air.
