Sunny Days & Sunflower Fields ♥

Last week we visited the island of Jersey in the Channel Islands once again. It was so great to get away and just have a break from everything, I wasn't blogging, I gave up Facebook and I was focused on relaxing and spending as much time with my family as possible. Whilst driving through the St. Ouens area of the island with my dad I spotted fields of gorgeous yellow sunflowers in bloom - the photographer in me just had to get photos of my son in those fields.

I don't think my father realised when he had me that one day he'd have to chauffeur me from field to field, on narrow country lanes just for some photo opportunities! He was a good sport though - thanks for being co-operative Dad!

My favourite sunflower fields were located down a dirt track with the gorgeous bright blue sea in view, the sunflowers in those fields seemed to be blooming a lot more than the other ones we saw and they were such a beautiful sight to behold. At first Tyler Lee was apprehensive about the flowers, he didn't want to be near them (or be a model... again!) but when I lifted him up and let him touch the face of the flowers and explained to him all about the yellow petals he fell in love with them. From that moment on he refered to the taller sunflowers as the "mummy and daddy" flowers and the shorter, smaller ones as the "babies" - so adorable.

Tyler Lee even went so far as to give the flowers hugs, kisses and little pets, he has such an affectionate nature and it's so sweet to witness, I'm so glad I captured his moments of love towards the sunflowers on camera.

I don't normally include pictures of myself on the blog, mainly because I'm always behind the camera and lets face it, Tyler Lee is far more beautiful to look at, and even though the picture of myself holding Tyler Lee above is marred with imperfections I just had to add it into this post because I'm smiling, a proper, happy smile because in that week away I was completely at ease, happy and in love with life - I'm happy to say I still kind of am too.

There's nothing like sunny days and sunflower fields to bring out the happiness in you. The beautiful pictures I was able to snap were simply an amazing bonus. I love capturing all our memories together and they're even better when we're surrounded by some stunning nature-filled backdrops.

  4. Such gorgeous pictures! You can really see what a sweet natured little boy Tyler Lee is- bless him hugging the flowers! Sunflowers are my absolute favourite, we had them as our wedding flowers, so I was desperate to find a sunflower field to get some pictures this summer. Unfortunately I couldn't find any near us, ah well, maybe next year :-)

  8. Those photographs are stunning. I love the one of you and Tyler Lee you both look incredibly happy. I am getting a little bit like that, fields and photo opportunities. I always have to stop. It sounds like the holiday was amazing, and I always think it's good for the soul to have some time off, be that off social media, work or just to get away from the normal home life. I am glad you are still loving life. :)
