A Festival Makeup Look With NYX ♥

Summer is in full swing once again now that the sunny weather has returned and if you're going to any festivals this month I'm sure you'll want to be rocking a fun, festival makeup look. I know that when I go to festivals I like to wear a bolder makeup look. Sure why not?! It's all in keeping with the fun of the event and I've never been one to shy away from the brighter coloured eye shadows or lipsticks anyway, finding myself wearing them on a daily basis. NYX recently sent me some of their gorgeous makeup and, being inspired by the bright colours they sent me, I decided to do a festival themed makeup look with them.

For the base I used NYX Shine Killer*, a serum which melts into the skin to help eliminate oil and shine on the face so that your makeup stays matte all day long - just what I need as my t-zone always gets oily throughout the day. This worked really well, although I would recommend that you only use this with a liquid based foundation, read on further to find out why...

During the summer months I'm not too keen on wearing a heavy foundation, I like to wear something lighter like a BB cream, just so that my natural skin can shine through a bit more - you gotta show off those freckles in summertime! I've found the perfect summertime foundation in NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation*. Now I have never used a powder foundation before so this was a real treat to get to try out. The powder itself is so soft and feels light on the skin, it's a dream to wear and I've been wearing it ever since I got it. I wouldn't recommend using any base underneath this type of foundation though, otherwise it won't spread evenly over the face and will get clumped up in the base - as I swiftly found out when I tried to use it with the NYX Shine Killer. It is lovely on its own though, gives a fairly light coverage but can be built up and has a perfect, natural look to it.

I was sent three NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils* to try out, in the shades Rust - a gorgeous metallic burgundy, Pots & Pans - a striking metallic silver and Rocky Mountain Green - a deep metallic forest green shade. For the festival look I used Rocky Mountain Green as I just love green eye shadows and this particular shade was a favourite of mine. I covered my whole eyelids with the shade and then used an eye shadow brush to work it out over the eye. I did this as I've found the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils crease very easily, I'm sure this is down to the metallic look of them but it's easily fixed by blending them out with a brush, although this does seem to tone down the vibrancy of them. Still quite pretty though!

To give a bit of fun to the eye look I used NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil in Purple*. Green and purple has always been a favourite colour combo of mine and I think it looks gorgeous in eye makeup. This eye pencil glides on easily and the colour comes out straight away, no need to go over and over the lash line.

I finished the look with a super bright lipstick, NYX Matte Lipstick in Indie Flick*. This is a stunning coral/red shade that is very eye-catching. I'm not usually a fan of red toned lipsticks but I like this one, I think it's because of the coral tones in it too, it's very summery and perfect for a festival. I really like the matte finish of the lipstick too, it's very different to the shimmery shades I usually pick up and it's nice to try something a bit different. This lipstick is bound to make you stand out from the crowd.

I finished the look with some Soap & Glory Thick & Fast Mascara and Inglot Sparkling Dust in shade 02 just to highlight and add even more to the party look. I then loosely curled my hair and added a floral headband which I picked up from Penneys years ago. I love how this look turned out, it's fun, bright and perfect for dancing away the days at a festival.

Overall I really loved this look and have actually found myself recreating it for daily wear - as I said I don't shy away from the bright colours! I'm really impressed with the NYX range once again and the foundation is so perfect for summer, I love how it gives me some coverage but also lets my natural features comes through.
