Weekenders | Yummy Things, Upcycling & Gardens ♥

This weekend was much quieter than last and I really can't believe how quickly it came around either, it's crazy how quickly the weeks are flying by! Jacek only had one day off this weekend and he spent it working on his car and cleaning the house - we're exciting people... I was disappointed that we didn't end up going anywhere but the weather has been so changeable that it's probably for the best - I don't think Ireland got the memo that it's July, JULY! We've had awful rain, wind and cloudy skies down here in Cork, I hope the sun comes back soon because I'm so uninspired by all the gloominess.

As we didn't go anywhere this weekend I wanted to spend as much time in both our own garden and my parents as we could, just so we were out of the house but still close enough to home encase it rained. I love how my parents garden looks in the summer and I spent some time photographing all the flowers in bloom whilst Tyler Lee ran around the garden and played with the cat and dog. I love the pink flowers on the trellis, they are so pretty, I do have a particular penchant for anything pink though.

On the upcycling front I decided to paint Tyler Lee's new Wickey Sand Pit in a beautiful duck egg blue (review to come) as I'm not a fan of plain wood and have the painting bug at the moment. I love how it turned out and I think the blue looks far better than the plain wood but I do think it needs another coat and I didn't paint the inside as the black cover was covering it - not for the picture though, can you say drips?! Tyler Lee had an absolute ball playing in it though and he Grandad was even showing him how to built sand castles, so sweet. When we were out in a garden, where I was feeding some dogs as a favour to their owners, Tyler Lee found a huge tree house and slide and had an absolute ball going up and down it, if only we were lucky enough to have something like this in our garden.

I also got another chair to upcycle, this time from my stepdad's shed in the yard. To say it has some wear and tear is an understatement! It'll be the most challenging upcycle I've done as of it but it'll be amazing to see the transformation. I began sanding it over the weekend and am now ready to paint and shabby chic-ify it. It'll be kept in our garden and I got it's makeover inspiration from my favourite - Pinterest! I also picked up some vintage style pots with hearts in them for the garden, I love the pastel colours and they were super cheap too. They'll be displayed like this on the chair when it's done.

I wasn't feeling very well this weekend so I wasn't eating much but Jacek did come home with a little treat for me, a brownie from SuperValu, who, in my opinion, have some of the tastiest brownies ever, they're so gooey. I ended up giving half of it to Jacek, but still, it was yummy while I had it. On Saturday night neither of us could be bothered cooking so we ended up getting a takeaway. I love my Mexican chips and cheese, that sauce is delicious, the more of it the better! But again, I gave about two thirds of it to Jacek, I just felt so ill. After my dinner on Sunday evening I sat down to read my favourite magazine, Daphne's Diary and enjoyed some fresh strawberries whilst having a read, so yummy.

To finish off our weekend we went for a stroll in a beautiful orchard, it honestly was so awe inspiring and I was going mad that I didn't bring my camera, especially as there were poppies there and I've been wanting to find them all summer. Walking around there, the sun going down, my boys beside me and two adorable, friendly dogs following us, it was nothing but perfection and the best way to end our weekend.

I've decided to make my Weekenders post a weekly thing to inspire me to make the most of our weekends as a family and I've also decided to make it a weekly link up too so please do feel free to pop by the blog every Monday to link up any posts you have about your weekend. I shall be commented on each post linked up over the coming days and can't wait to read about everyone's weekend adventures!
