Rice Krispie Medleys ♥

I've been trying to get Tyler Lee more involved in the kitchen, showing him how his meals are made and letting him help out with the food prep and baking in a bid to get him interested in eating more. Since he was sick in January he has been awful with eating meals, picking away at things throughout the day and always wanting things such as ice-cream and cheese. So far, letting him get involved and seeing how his meals are made has worked to make him more interested in eating his meals and that makes me one happy mummy.

Yesterday was a dull, dreary day and being in search of an indoor activity which we could both enjoy, I decided to make Rice Krispie buns with my boy, only these weren't any ole Rice Krispie buns, these were my Rice Krispie Bun Medleys - filled to the brim with melted chocolate, gooey marshmallows, crunchy sprinkles and heaps of gold and pink glitter, yum yum!

I firstly separated everything we needed into bowls - which of course my toddler just had to pick at, those plain Rice Krispies were too tempting for him to resist, the majority of which ended up all over the kitchen floor - the joys of baking with a toddler! I then melted the chocolate over a saucepan until it was smooth, I used one big bar of milk chocolate but you can use any type of chocolate you like.

I then poured the melted chocolate over the plain Rice Krispies, mixing to make sure they were all covered in chocolate. My toddler then added in the marshmallows, coloured sprinkles and lots of gold glitter to make up the medley - and one yummy looking medley it was, so yummy in fact that he couldn't resist licking the spoon right there and then.

We left them to set in the fridge for on hour and a half (during this time I distracted the little one with his dinner and a bath...), they were then perfect for us to enjoy just before bed time, well, the little ones anyway!

They were the perfect medley of soft (marshmallow), crunchy (sprinkles) and sweetness (chocolate and glitter) and were truly delicious. My little one highly approved of them if his "nummy, nummies" were to go by.

I really love getting him involved in cooking and baking and it was great to have a little helper and taste tester in the kitchen today. I hope his enthusiasm for helping out with meals and baking projects continues as he grows. It was great to see him loving what we were doing and trying to mix the medley too.

These Rice Krispie medleys will no doubt be the first of our many baking escapades together and I'm so happy that they were a tasty success! These Rice Krispie medleys are the perfect, easy, no-bake treat to make with your little ones and are sure to keep everyone happy.
