Life Lately | Mellow Yellow & Rainbow Bright ♥

I thought I'd share what my little family and I have been up to lately because I feel as if I haven't been posting here at all, I have, of course, but not as often as before and there are many reasons why. Firstly, the weather has been so good here lately so I've been wanting to get outside as much as possible, enjoying the great outdoors with my little boy and snapping pictures with my new camera lens - I've upgraded to a 55-200mm lens for my Nikon D3200 and I'm really loving getting out there and capturing the world around me at the moment. The above pictures were taken in a rape seed field not far from my house. It was so beautiful there that we just had to make two trips there over the last week. I was also loving Tyler Lee's new yellow mac from John Lewis - his little fisherman jacket as I call it and his rainbow t-shirt from the Little Bird range at Mothercare - how adorable are those clothes?! I wish our local store had the full selection seeing as I can't access the Mothercare UK site to make an order, it keeps redirecting me to the crappy Irish one...

Secondly, you may have seen on my social media that I've began a new blog. Fawns & Fables is my new baby and I've been trying to get it up and running as best as I can, devoting so much time to it, getting it's own domain and new custom blog design, which shall be unveiled very soon. I've been wanting to begin a new blog for quite a long time now and am delighted to have finally have taken this leap. Fawns & Fables will be purely based on photography, adventure and inspiration, Dolly Dowsie will continue to be my personal, parenting, beauty and lifestyle blog. I would love your continued support with both.

Finally, Jacek finished his law degree and exams yesterday so we both feel as if we're free again. These past two years have been hard going for him (and me) juggling a full-time job with college and family time. I'd be lying if I said we had lots of family time these past two years and in all honesty I've felt like a single mother at times, staying at home with Tyler Lee and feeling as though I've been raising him on my own sometimes. Now that he's older he notices when Jacek is gone and pines for him all day when he's at work, etc. so it's great that he'll no longer be gone from dawn until late night during the week and that we can now plan some family days out and share responsibility of Tyler Lee on a more equal basis. I'm so proud of him for completing his degree whilst holding down a full-time job and I'll be delighted to see him graduate in November.

So that's all that my little family and I have been up to lately. We've also booked our annual holiday to Jersey in the Channel Islands to visit my Dad and his girlfriend and I can't wait to go there again and visit Sark this time too - I need the peace and quiet!

Tomorrow will be the start of a great weekend with a trip downtown with Jacek to visit the heritage centre and Lusitania exhibition - oh the excitement of my life! No doubt I'll be posting about my travels and adventures on both blogs soon.

  1. Yup, I've seen your new blog. It's nice that you have something new to spend time on and be happy about. Congrats to Jacek for finishing his law degree. That sounds like a big accomplishment. It's also one great milestone for your family since taking care of your kids almost like by yourself is quite hard as well.

  8. What a beautiful field of flowers against that bright blue sky! Congratulations on your husband graduating, my husband went back to school several years ago while working full time and we had 3 little ones. I know exactly what you mean when you say it feels a bit like being a single parent.

  9. Wow, two blogs and one adorable little guy. How do you manage both and have enough time for you? I struggle so much with having time to chase around two boys and run just one website. Wishing you all the best!
