If you follow my Instagram, @fiandtylerlee, you'll have seen my love of vintage clothing and some of the unique pieces I've gotten, not only for my boy, but a collection of beautiful Beatrix Potter dresses too. I wanted to share with you all Tyler Lee's vintage wardrobe and these stunning, charming pieces I've gotten for him over the last couple of months from many decades. I hope you enjoy these beloved treasures!
I have a bit of an obsession with anything to do with Beatrix Potter at the moment so when I saw these gorgeous outfits I just had to pick them up. Both are Beatrix Potter Originals - the only Beatrix Potter clothing I buy as it seems to be the best quality and both are size 24 months, although you can see that the yellow is much larger than the blue - vintage sizing can be so off. Tyler Lee wore the yellow outfit on Easter Sunday and it was just darling on him. He recently wore the blue one on a recent trip to the woods as featured in my Wonderland in the Woodland post.
Two more Beatrix Potter pieces and I was delighted to pick up the overalls as it was nice to find a piece with a long leg. Tyler Lee has only worn this outfit three times, once featured in My Little Peter Rabbit, but the legs are now up to his ankles, he has grown much too quickly! This is one of his vintage Peter Rabbit coats (the other was in the wash when I took these pictures) and although it isn't in the most perfect condition it only cost €5 so I still think it was a complete bargain!
I couldn't resist the whimsical balloon print top and think it'll be gorgeous on my boy with some red or blue trousers or some denim shorts during the summer. I had to pick up some gingham shortalls for him as he had some baby blue ones last year and they were so adorable with a plain white t-shirt.
This pale blue romper was something I could resist when I found it on Etsy, unfortunately I think it'll be much too small for Tyler Lee once the summer arrives. I just love the colour and it's vintage from the 1960's. The other outfit is Jane Copeland dead stock (never worn vintage) and will be so sweet with a little cardigan and socks during the summer. It's quite dressy so it would be perfect for a formal occasion. This outfit is from the 1970's.
These two beautiful outfits are the oldest in Tyler Lee's wardrobe - the lighter is from the 1950's and the darker is from the 1940's. I picked these up to use in some photo shoot ideas I have and they really are so stunning. They don't make clothes like they used to. I think the one on the right could be used as a unisex piece also due to the lace detail on the collar and breast.
I picked up these pieces for summer holidays, the sail boat applique being perfect for a little boy who lives on an island. The detail on the other reminds me of teddy bears picnics which I'm sure we'll be having a lot of during the warmer days.
Yellow is a colour I love to see on little boys, it's so bright, happy and sunny. So when I saw these two pinstripe rompers I just had to get them. I think they'll look great with his long blonde curls and are light enough for running around in on warm days.
I thought the teddy bear overalls were super sweet but they have always been too short on the leg for Tyler Lee, that however, didn't stop my little vintage boy sporting them one day. These are vintage from the 1960's. Once again, how could I resist blue gingham, I just love the colour and pattern so much.
These are Tyler Lee's vintage pieces so far, his wardrobe is filling up nicely with them! It's so nice to mix vintage and modern pieces, as you all probably know by now I like to dress my boy in a variety of different styles, I like him to be unique. I saw that someone found my blog two weeks ago by searching for 'Tyler Lee style icon' (this made me so happy to see by the way!) so hopefully they did mean my little one and they like this post all about the older side of his wardrobe.
Are you a fan of vintage children's clothing?
I'm personally not a fan for my boy, he's more into jeans and tshirts but the pieces are lovely and I can see why you adore them so much! Tyler Lee has to be the best dressed boy in Ireland! xx
ReplyDeleteI like to dress Tyler Lee in t-shirts and jeans too, in fact, today he's wearing a checkered shirt and bright blue jeans but I really do love the vintage pieces too, they just don't make clothes like they used to. Aww thank you so much :) x
DeleteThese are really cute piece Fiona, I love how you dress Tyler he always looks so smashing and dashing. I do not yet have kids but I wouldn't mind dressing my kids in these.
ReplyDeleteThank you Miranda! I'm going to say that to him now - smashing and dashing! :)
DeleteMy son is now 8 but I never bought any vintage clothing for him, maybe because I don't see them here. I love your son's vintage clothing and I also love his name, Tyler Lee, sounds like a Hollywood name.
ReplyDeleteIt's not common here in Ireland either, I had to source all these from America. Aww thank you, someone said that to us in the hospital the day he was born too :)
DeleteWow, these are some fun/cool summer looks for toddlers. I love the gingham with the little sail boat, how adorable.
ReplyDeleteI just love everything about these little boy outfits! I remember wearing little dresses that reminded me of these outfits you showed, as a kid. Except the chest part of the dress was strechy and ruffled? You know the one's I'm talking about? Lol.
ReplyDeleteThese are super cute. I would probably only be successful getting my boys to wear these for a special event...they prefer to pick out their own clothes, much to their mommy's dismay!

Oh how cute! When I was pregnant with, #6 my hubby's aunt dropped off boxes of clothes. They were all from the 60s,70s and 80s. I kept a few pieces but couldn't keep them all. So stinking cute though!
ReplyDeleteI remember clothing like this when I was growing up. All the little kids wore things like that. I think they are cute.
ReplyDeleteThese are cute. When I was a kid, clothes like this totally confused me. I used to think that the bib shorts were for girls.
ReplyDeleteTL has gotta be one of the best dressed kids ever. Love every single piece! He's adorable in them 😍
ReplyDeleteThese are just so cute! I love the styles of these, they're pretty cute for kids and I think they'd love wearing them as well. I love the little bunny, its on most of them and I would definitely check them out just for that. I love bunnies and so does the little one! Thanks for sharing :) Reminds me to go shopping haha ;)
ReplyDeleteI really like the vintage clothes for kids. They seem more dignified in a way than just T-shirts and jeans.
ReplyDeleteI think some vintage clothing is cute. I don't dress my kids in them though. I do love the rompers though!
ReplyDeleteThese outfits are adorable. I love vintage kids clothes. I love to shop at the thrift stores.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I love this style too (which you know!), when I found out Tyne was a boy I was sad that I wouldnt be able to dress him up in pretty things but then I decided that boys can have beautiful clothes too...you just have to look harder to find them!
ReplyDeleteOf course he wears "normal clothes" mostly but for special occasions or just to dress up for photos I love the classic style outfits! His 1st birthday out was one of my favourites.
I also love Spanishwear! Very similar to the vintage style with jam pants and ruffle tops, etc! xx
These are so stinking cute. I have seen a lot of vintage clothing styles for girls, but not so much for the boys- You surely have a best-dressed little guy on your hands!
ReplyDeleteThose designs are great! It's sometimes hard to think of buying new clothes for our kids every day we see good materials since we are in fear that they will grow up too quickly. In our case, we have cousins whose ages are not far as the kids at home so we just donate the clothes to them in still perfect condition.
ReplyDeleteEvery piece shown here is totally wearable and I foresee them to be worn by many fashionable kids. Blues and yellows are so calming to the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThese are such classic looks, I would have loved to have some of these outfits when my son was a wee one. I have a boy shower coming up and I think the new mama to be will love these--thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThose are adorable!!! I ash boys clothing was still made like that today!!
ReplyDeleteThere's something very special about those vintage designs. I always think Tyler Lee looks adorable in his outfits when you show them, so you have great taste.

ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore this style of kid clothing. To me it is so classic and traditional. I have a soft spot for that.
ReplyDeleteYou always have him in the cutest outfits for the photos. It is crazy how much sizing can differ in outfits over the years and even brands.
ReplyDeleteI had several outfits like these for my son when he was little. I just love those styles. Can't wait for grandchildren so I can buy outfits like this again!
ReplyDeleteI'm expecting a baby boy, I'm so excited to shop for him! There's some gorgeous outfits for boys too. Some of these are so cute.

ReplyDeleteI feel like my grandma saying this, but they really don't make clothes the way they used to in the good ol days haha. The vintage look is so chic and cute, I love it for the little ones.
