Sometimes I do things just for the whimsy and this shabby chic styled tea was no exception. I styled it to compliment my Tea and Chats series and although I'm not one-hundred per cent happy with how the pictures turned out I thought what the heck, why not show them anyway? They are quite pretty and I really do love those pink carnations - at least that's what I think they are, so please do enjoy the pretty things!
Those queen cakes were absolutely delicious, sometimes it's the most simplest of treats which taste the best. Can you believe that my two year old actually drinks water out of those miniature teacups? He likes to pour the water in himself from the teapot, so adorable. My shabby chic cake stand is my new pride and joy, although I was left disappointed by the fact that the third plate and tier had no hole in the middle... why do these errors and broken items always get sent to me from shops? Nevertheless, I quite like it two tier and it's the perfect size for displaying all our treats on.
We must have tea and whimsy more often!
I'm so glad to see that I am not the only one who does this kind of thing at home! I love little tea parties and carnations are perfect for them! I wish I had one of your Queen cakes though!
ReplyDeleteDoing things like this is so fun isn't it? Sometimes we just need to make something pretty and enjoy ourselves. I'm not going to lie, those cakes were super duper delicious!
DeleteYour queen cakes look delicious! Definitely have me craving something sweet right about now ;) I had a similar issue with a stand I bought at Home Goods, I'm not quite sure how the manufacturer can make such a silly, and ridiculously frustrating, error? Either way your pictures look great!
ReplyDeleteI actually want another right now too! It really is so frustrating and this cake stand wasn't cheap either so I think they should be on top of these things. Thank you so much :)
DeleteBeautiful pictures. I have to ask, are you a professional photographer, because your pictures are always gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYour photos turned out beautifully Fiona! Those Queen cakes look amazing and I love everything about this little styled tea party! XX

ReplyDeleteYou really nailed the whimsy aspect. The polka dot tea set would like right at home on the Mad Hatter's table in Alice in Wonderland. Too cool.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! Those queen cakes look yummy! My kids used to drink out of the miniature tea sets too! They loved them :)
ReplyDeleteTea parties are so much fun! My kids would drink out of those little tea cups, too. I still have a tea set from when my now 27 year old daughter was a little girl. Those cupcakes look amazing and the photos are great!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to either do a tea party or be invited to one. I drink tea every day, so that part would be easy. Your tea party is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was eating one of those queen cakes right now. I actually have a tea set gifted to me from our wedding day. I can't wait to break it out one day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea to do at home! The queen cakes look delicious and beautiful! I can see my two year old drinking out of a tea cup- not without making a mess though! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are just too cute. Since I have boys who are more interested in truck time than tea time, I guess I will just have to save this fun idea for a girly date with my niece!

ReplyDeleteMy daughter saw this and asked me "Can we do a tea party again one of these days?" I guess, I will have to come up with an idea so thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYummy. My littlest girl has a tea set and I always hear chatter in her bedroom when she convinces her little brother to play dress up and have a tea party. It is the best thing to hear. I love it.

I was thinking to myself, "Where's the third tier...." and then you explained it. I've got the same kind of luck but, regardless, that stand is gorgeous! I absolutely love it!
ReplyDeleteWe've got a set of mini espresso cups and my toddlers do the same thing. We have a "tea" party almost daily now :P
The setup looks absolutely adorable that I would hate to mess it up by eating anything. It reminds me of a tea party based in a fairy tale or like Alice in Wonderland.
