A new bunch of roses, a new batch of cupcakes... this time with pink and gold glitter. I've been baking up a storm recently, I had picked up an array of sprinkles in my local Dealz store and thought I'd bake some more pretty cupcakes for me and mine to enjoy. I really loved the edible golden glitter and there was so much of it in the tiny tub it comes in so there's lots more left for future bakes too. I made this batch red velvet again and used swirled vanilla and chocolate fudge icing on them all this time. They're not as perfect as they should be as my piping bag split - why does this always happen to me - but they were yummy nonetheless!
The stars and the hearts sprinkles were my favourite, the hearts being perfect for Valentine's Day. I really need to stop making so many sweet treats though, we'll all end up with diabetes! To be honest I enjoy decorating the cupcakes more than eating them these days. I try and make them as pretty as I can and with all the cool things you can get these days for cake decorating it's not hard to come up with creative and beautiful designs that everyone says "wow" too and thinks they're a shame to eat - luckily they still do otherwise I'd be left with a whole load of cupcakes! I have my eye on some blue edible glitter and may make some more cupcakes for my sons 2nd birthday next week but we'll see...
Have you done any baking recently? What do you decorate your cakes with?
I agree with you the stars and hearts are perfect for Valentine's Day. Everything just looks too good to eat!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I almost enjoy decorating cupcakes and other baked creations more than eating them! I think the last time I made cupcakes I only ate 1 (out of 48!) These definitely look great though, and you have such an eye for using different combinations to really make every individual cupcake pop. I bet your family loves these!
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning! I love the gold glitter, and the stars and hearts are adorable. I wish I was a better baker--too precise and scientific for my left brain! Haha. Beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteThese are SO pretty! I love the gold glitter on them. I absolutely love baking (even though sometimes I’m sure my waistline wishes I didn’t!) because of how much you can do with desserts. You really can make them look so pretty. Nice job!

Alas, I am NOT a baker. I think its because I don't have patience to do the exact measurements. I am better at savoury food where you can add a dash of this and a pinch of that. I do love the sparkles and sprinkles in your cupcakes. They look sooooo nice. Thanks for the great 'eye' candy with those fabulous pictures.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I have been a baker on hiatus! I loved to bake since a child, but with the kids homework and housekeeping has been so time consuming. However you have inspired me to get my little people in the kitchen this Valentines Day and bake with them!
ReplyDeleteThe gold glitter dust looks great on the cupcakes. I will have to give this a try with a few of my upcoming parties.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the kind of cup you used? Is that a silicone cup on the cupcake? It's really cute and made the cupcake more appetizing!
