Squishy noses and soft kisses... |
It's been a long time since I wrote one of these types of posts, September, in fact, was the last time, that's awful, shame on me. I wanted to use these posts to take stock of everything going on in my life, how I was feeling and things I could improve on. I'll have to make more of an effort to do one of these posts at least every two months. So what have I been doing lately...
Making: Myself poor... I have such an addictive personality and always get little obsessions to things (thank the Lord I don't smoke or do drugs!). My last obsession was with Yankee Candles and it was like Pokémon - gotta catch them all, or have them all in my case. I am now over the Yankee Candle phase and have moved onto the vintage children's clothing phase. I have been stocking up on vintage shortalls, shirts and other pieces for my son but I also went an bought an adorable little Beatrix Potter dress... I don't have a daughter and maybe never will but I had to get this dress. I've loved Beatrix Potter tales since I was a young child though so that makes it okay, right? I am going to be so poor...
Cooking: Jacek has been working six days a week for the last five weeks so has been around when I've been having my own meals, meaning I cook the easiest things I possibly can. Last night I made dopiaza chicken curry with brown rice and Naan bread, it was delicious.
Drinking: Orange, mango and passionfruit smoothies in a glass with a polkadot paper straw. I'm cool like that.
Reading: I've just finished reading two Galaxy Quick Reads - Dead Man Talking by Roddy Doyle and Street Cat Bob by James Bowen. I finished both within two hours and I have to admit they were great reads, especially Street Cat Bob, it's such a sweet story and one of hope. It's also a true story too which makes it all the more enticing. These Galaxy Quick Reads are fab for busy mothers like myself who really want to find the time to read but have to do it in short bursts. They are bite-sized
books written by best-selling authors which cost only £1. They
are available from bookshops, supermarkets and
online or can be borrowed from libraries across the country. They are
also available as eBooks across all major eBook platforms. I felt so accomplished having actually made it to the ends of these books or novellas as I like to call them.
Wanting: Spring to arrive already. I am so sick of all the cold weather now, I need some sun and warmth. I'm also wanting to book our summer holiday, if only Jacek and I could decide on a destination we both like.
Looking: Forward to mine and Jacek's breaks away. First we have Amsterdam in March, Dublin again in April for the Irish Parenting Blogger Awards which I am organising with six fellow Irish parenting bloggers and then London in June for Britmums. It's my first time going to a big blogging event like this and I really can't wait. I have my lovely sponsors My 1st Years, the hotel booked and I even have my own personal name badge courtesy of Simoney Badges, isn't it pretty? I've never been overly enamored by my blogs logo before but I'm loving how the colours pop on the white background on my badge. Hopefully people at the event will now know where I blog at and who my sponsors are.
Wasting: Time browsing Ebay and Etsy for Beatrix Potter items and Instagram for vintage pieces for my son, someone stop me.
Wishing: That my house could stay tidy. Honestly this place just breeds mess and laundry. I clean it and the next morning it's like a disaster zone, who keeps making a mess?! I also hate that Jacek puts clean laundry sitting on our two seater couch, leaving it to be folded, ironed and put away. Clean clothes do not go on the couch, couches are for sitting on... aaaand breathe!
Loving: Taking pictures again. I have been slacking on my picture taking this year. I think my two photography projects last year really burnt me out but after capturing some beautiful snaps on my sons 2nd birthday I'm not inspired to get clicking away again. I've also been loving some new additions to my home. I have some gorgeous things to show you in an upcoming post but I wanted to share with you all these super adorable pillowcases I received courtesy of Love Pillow Cases, aren't they sweet? My design is the Love Bubbles Pillow Cases and they look lovely on mine and Jacek's bed. There are twelve gorgeous designs to choose from and they're all perfect for Valentine's Day, spur of the moment gifts for your other half, birthdays, anniversaries and there is even a pair of pillow cases for wedding days. I love all the designs and think the characters and all the love hearts are rather cute. Each pair of pillow cases is £16.99 each.
Smelling: The fresh flowers in my kitchen, especially the lillies. Jacek has begun buying me bouquets of flowers every two weeks now and I love how they brighten up the kitchen. The sweet smell of the flowers is gorgeous too. I can't wait for all the spring flowers to be in bloom and their gorgeous aromas filling the air again.
Noticing: How bad my hair looks at the moment, I can't believe how dark my roots are! My hair is badly in need of a cut too, I haven't been to the hairdresser in over a year because I hate the overall experience of someone else brushing my hair, getting the highlights put in, the sinks, people sticking their long nails into my scalp... but I've bitten the bullet and am visiting the hairdresser tomorrow - wish me luck!
Lusting: After a bigger home for my family and I. We really have to move, we have no space in this house anymore. I call it the dolls house because it's tiny. I want more room for myself, more room for all of my sons toys, more storage and some space to breathe! I hope more houses come up for rent in our area soon.
What have you been up to lately?
I have to admit I've been pretty lazy lately. I don't like winter, all this weather does is making me feel tired and sleepy. So I definitely agree with you on the wanting part, can't wait for spring to arrive already! I need sun so I can go for those long walks with my dog and spend some time outside the house, makes me feel better right away. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the same Tea, winter makes me so tired and I find myself falling asleep on the couch or crawling into bed just for a rest and some warmth! I can't wait for the warmer spring and summer to arrive.
DeleteThose pillows are super cute! I would love to get myself a pair. I am a sucker for cute stuff :)
ReplyDeleteThey really are, there are so many fab designs to choose from too :)
DeleteIt's so awesome that you will be visiting the Netherlands! I bet you will really love it :)
