Tyler Lee's Library - Love You Forever ♥

For quite awhile now I've wanted to share the books I read to Tyler Lee on the blog. His Daddy and I have built up quite a library for him ever since he was born and bedtime reading is one of my favourite times of day with him. It was always important to me to read to my child, I wanted them to love books just as much as I do (I used to read two long books a week as a child) and thankfully Tyler Lee always goes to his books when he's in his room. I think the gift of a book and words are some of the greatest gifts you can ever give to a child. When I read to him he lies in his cot on top of his teddy looking up at me as I read the words to him. I show him the pages and he giggles as I pronounce some things for him, my boy finds the simplest of words entertaining and to be honest I find our whole bedtime reading sessions absolutely adorable! For an eighteen month old he's built up quite a library, sixty books and counting to be exact and I don't think his collection will ever stop growing. These posts will be to show you some of our favourite books from Tyler Lee's library and ones we highly recommend to fellow parents and their little ones.

The first book I want to share with you all is one which makes me burst into tears everytime I read it to Tyler Lee, it's 'Love You Forever' by Robert Munsch. This book was a gift from Tyler Lee's godmother for his birthday and what a sweet gift it was. The story centers around a mother and her son, who she sings to every night about how much she loves him. The story goes through their whole lifetime together and shows that no matter how much he drives her crazy he will always be her baby and she will always love him. I won't ruin the story for you by telling you every detail or the ending but it is truly one of the loveliest things you'll ever read and is both sad and beautiful all at the same time. I've read this story to Tyler Lee countless times and I cry everytime.

The book goes through the whole timeline of the mother and sons life and what she thinks at various times of his life. The book demonstrates that no matter what, a mothers love for her child will always remain and never fade. I read this book tonight again to Tyler Lee and cried again at the end. The words are just so touching and it hits home that all these things will happen in my life with my own son so it's a very relatable story for both parent and child when reading it.

This book would be such a great gift for an expecting mother or as a child's first birthday gift. It's one of the nicest things I've ever read and I couldn't recommend it more, tears and all! You can read about 'Love You Forever' and read the authors thoughts on the book here.

Happy reading!

  16. I refuse to read that damn book anymore. (I say damn book with love lol). I really break into hysterical crying every time and both the kids and I wind up being extremely depressed afterwards thinking of the day I get old and helpless and they will no longer be my babies. The sentiment is great and it encompasses life well, but being a mom is so emotional already, I don't need to add any more to our lives.

  19. My third grade teacher read this book to the class and I remember her choking up. I can't read it to my daughter and son because I become a blubbering fool. Such a sweet book, but too much for overemotional me :-)
