For Tyler Lee's birthday we got him two giant foil balloons in the shape of '1' and I decided to keep these balloons for one whole month after he turned one so we could do a balloon wish and release out our back garden when he turned 13 months old, kind of like a paper lantern wishes idea but with a birthday twist. I thought of this idea myself, I thought it would be a very simple thing to do with my boy but something with a lot of sentiment too. I also wanted to do it when he was 13 months old as he would be saying goodbye to his baby stage and making all his wishes for the next exciting stage of his life - being a toddler! It was a gloriously sunny spring day so we went out to our back garden, two giant balloons in tow and Tyler Lee was so excited by it all, he really loved those balloons. Isn't he so adorable clutching onto the balloons in the below picture? He was playing with the balloons for awhile, giggling as he squished them down, the helium slowly fading out of them day by day, he loved hearing the foil crinkling too, it's amazing how entertaining these simple things can be for children. I let him release the balloons by himself when he was ready too, when the balloons began to rise into the sunny sky I said to him "make a wish" and pointed upwards to the balloons slowly drifting up into the air. He smiled as though he knew what I was saying, I swear that child has graced this Earth before. I also made a wish for my boy, a wish for him to have a happy life. My boy deserves happiness and I hope he smiles everyday of his life, if he does I'll know I did a good job as a mother. I love times like this, these are things which I'll always remember and I'm so glad to have captured the moment on camera to show LeeLee when he's older. My boy kept laughing long after the balloons drifted off, I think he knows he's going to get what he wished for, I hope he does, that would be the most wonderful thing ever... ♥
