Your children are not you children,
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you yet
they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your
thoughts, For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in
the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.
You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent
forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He
bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.
Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as He
loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

I am taking part in I Heart Snapping's weekly
Living Arrows project, a photography project to capture an image which
represents childhood to you through the actions, likes, dislikes, looks
and movements of your own children. Below is my picture for the fifth
week of Living Arrows. This weeks picture is pretty similar to last weeks, it features my baby boy smiling at my parents dog coming over to him and licking his face. My boy really does love the dog, I'm so glad that he seems to like animals. He was exploring the garden, felt grass for the first time, climbed up on the birdbath and crawled around the paving stones, he really does love the outdoors! I really love the little smile on my boys face in this picture, he melts my heart completely.
Awww...What a lovely picture. I love dogs. And your little boys smile is so pure and beautiful. I am sure he and the dog will have a lifelong bond.
