If you are a regular reader of the blog you will know that I take part in a weekly, themed makeup tag which takes place on the lovely Aqeela's Blog, something which I really enjoy taking part in each week. One theme we did was 'Smokey Eye', a look which I can't say I'm a big fan of as I think heavy, dark eye makeup doesn't suit me at all, nonetheless, I gave it a go to the best of my ability.
This was the overall look. I decided to highlight the brow bone in a light grey shadow to make the darker shadow really stand out. I applied two different dark shadows, one was a charcoal colour and the other a very dark grey. I used all three shadows from my GOSH palette because they're perfect for blending into on another, they apply so easily.
I created a flicked out effect with the darker charcoal shadow to emphasise the look. I also used the darker shadow to create a smudged liner effect on the lower lash line. The foundation I used was L'Oreal Lumi Magique in 'Perfect Beige' as I'm really trying to use up the bottle but it seems to be a never ending supply in there! I used MAC blusher in 'Fleur Power' which is a very dark pink shade so I highlighted my cheekbones with it. I finished the look by using the rosy coloured gloss on my Too Faced Lip Injector Duo, a product which I really love as it plumps up your lips with a tingling sensation which can become quite addictive. I love feeling a product working and then seeing the results in the mirror.
You can see the three different shadow colours more clearly in this picture. I also used my new Benefit 'They're Real!' mascara and I loved it, although I did poke myself a few times in the eye as the brush has a spiky end, something I've never seen on any other mascara brush. Overall I thought it was a great mascara and it really elongated my lashes, for €25 euro though I was expecting great results!
I'm still not convinced that the smokey eye look is one that suits me as I find it very heavy on the eyes but I was pleased with the way the look came out for the tag. What do you think? Are you a fan of the smokey, sultry eye?
I am not a fan of smokey eye makeup either.))
ReplyDeleteI would like to try the Benefit 'They're Real!' mascara.
