My Weight Loss Journey Week #6 | Overcoming Obstacles ♥

I'm now six weeks into my weight loss journey and I'm going to be completely honest here - it's been a tough week.

It all went down the pan when, half a mile into my country road walk, the wheel buckled on the buggy. Obviously I couldn't go on with the walk and had to get back to the car by balancing the buggy on it's back wheels - quite a feat when you've a heavy 16 month old baby inside!

Not having a buggy I could fit into the car meant that I had to change my walking route from the lovely, quiet countryside to the busy and very hilly town. I was a bit uncomfortable with the change of route, being a sufferer of agoraphobia in the past I hate being in places where there are a lot of people and I wouldn't have minded the four hills one after the other on the way back home had it not been for all the cars passing me as I trekked back up. Of course these are all little things and for people who've never suffered from anxiety or agoraphobia they wouldn't even give a thought to them, but it was quite a challenge for me to be exercising in a busy area. I did it though and I'm glad I pushed myself to.

I ended up only going on four walks the past week, the buggy thing was an annoyance I could have done without but Silver Cross have very kindly sent me a replacement wheel, meaning I'll be able to get out and about on my walk in the countryside again.

The only trouble is now that I'm going for an operation to have my gallbladder removed on Thursday, so I'm not sure when I'll be able to be pounding the roads at my usual pace again, but hopefully it won't be too long.

Another obstacle for me this week has been feeling hungry and reaching for not so healthy things out of convenience. I've been trying to stick to my So Shape smart meals and have been having my two a day, but I do feel hungry. I try to be good and have a can of tuna or a yogurt as a snack but I couldn't help sharing some biscuits with a friend when she called and the Milk Teeth jellies with the powder (you know, the old fashioned recipe) are on offer for only €1 from my local Spar so I couldn't resist them either... but for the most part I have been good. I am starting to really miss chocolate, cake and fizzy drinks though - I think this is the part of weight loss where I've always failed before, because the cravings are strong!

Along with my Grilla Fitness Burn Bullets (I'm now on my second tub) I began taking their 'Target Zone' CLA food supplement also. This contains conjugated linoleic acid which is associated with fat loss. CLA works by reducing body fat by preventing fat accumulation in fat cells. I'm not sure if these are having an effect on me, but from using the Burn Bullets my stomach is now a lot more defined and I'm losing that horrible 'mummy tummy' which can only be lost by burning calories.

I also got confirmation this week that I have lost all the weight my scales told me I had, as when I visited my GP to speak about the gallbladder operation he weighed me. You have no idea how delighted I was to know for sure that I have lost all this weight - scales can be dodgy and I would 100% trust the doctors scale.

So how have I done this week? I'm delighted to say that even after all the obstacles the week has thrown at me, I've lost another 2lbs! This brings my total to lose before reaching my first big goal to 16lbs. The closer I get to reaching that goal the happier I feel!

I have lost another 2cm off my body and the majority of my measurements have stayed the same as last week.

I now have to tie my belt at the tightest setting to keep my jeans up and in my lovely, baggy pants I'm able to fit both legs into one pant leg! I feel like I've had the ultimate weight loss moment by demonstrating this for a picture - everyone who loses weight seems to take these pictures, and now I've joined the club!

I'm not sure if I'll lose any weight by next week's weight-in due to my operation and only being able to go on gentle walks after it, but I'll try my best and hopefully I'll have another loss to report.

  2. Congratulations on your success so far and pushing through those fears, I suffer with anxiety and know how hard that is! Don't be too hard on yourself after your op, you are no good to anyone if you don't allow yourself to recover properly. Wishing you the best of luck with it all x

    1. Thank you so much. I'm sorry to hear you also suffer with anxiety, it's not easy. I'll try to relax and let myself heal - though I can't say it'll be easy with two little rascals to keep me busy! :)
