A Family Friendly Holiday To Ibiza | Travel & Adventure

My other half and I love to travel. Our annual two weeks away in the sun is what we live and work for and now that we're parents, we love being able to show our son the world and have us all relaxing together on a family friendly holiday. One destination which I've always wanted to visit but still haven't been able to grace my presence with, is the beautiful Balearic Island of Ibiza. We're currently talking about family holiday destinations for next summer, anxiously awaiting new travels and adventures, and Ibiza has been in the forefront of my mind. Now you may be reading this and thinking - "Is she honestly thinking of taking a toddler to Ibiza?! Isn't that a party island?!", but honestly, Ibiza isn't just for the 20-something party lovers in life, it's also a family-friendly island, a retreat if you will, for those in life who like to relax, take it easy and forget all the cares of the world whilst being surrounded by the ones they love whilst watching a gorgeous sunset on a golden, sandy beach - doesn't it sound idyllic?

Ibiza is an ideal choice of destination for families. The island is only 41km and 14km wide so you're always close to the beach - perfect for little ones like my son who love days at the beach. As it's a small island you're also pretty close to the airport, meaning that you don't have a long onward journey once you arrive in Ibiza, this is ideal as I can't stand long bus or taxi journeys when traveling alone, never mind with my son in tow, once I get off the plane I just want to be at the accommodation relaxing already and I'm sure this is the case for everyone. In my mind Ibiza offers that perfect, relaxing holiday which I always lust after but never really seem to get.

There are lots of beautiful villas in Ibiza to choose from for your family holiday but one I like the look of in particular is Villa de Los Suenos de Alexia, which, if I'm not mistaken means 'dreams of Alexia', well this villa would really be a dream of Fiona's! This villa is absolutely beautiful and so stylishly designed with white linen in the bedrooms, giant beanbags in the lounge and an amazing salt water infinity pool - the villa just exudes a sense of cool and a totally relaxing vibe. Villa de Los Suenos de Alexia is also ideally located close to all the delights Ibiza has to offer, just a five minute drive from the beach and five minutes from the airport. It's also set in a idyllic pine forest, ensuring maximum privacy for you and your family - a positive contrast compared to some holiday accommodations where you can be far too close for comfort to your neighbouring holiday-makers and a perfect location to take your little ones for a mid-afternoon stroll to retreat in the shade from the sunshine.

This villa is perfect for those with babies or toddlers as the pool is child-safe and the grounds are fenced and gated - I think this is why I'd love to holiday here with my son as I know it's safe for him and we don't have to worry about him running off, unlike our holiday last year when he wouldn't sit down and took off along the grounds of the apartments!

From all my research I'm fully convinced that Ibiza would be the perfect holiday destination for my boys and I. It'd be great to finally visit the island and be able to tick it off my travel bucket list and staying in a stunning Ibiza villa rental such as Villa de Los Suenos de Alexia would just be the icing on the cake, the perfect place for us all to relax, spend some quality time together and enjoy the beauty and sunshine that Ibiza has to offer.

*Stays at Villa de Los Suenos de Alexia are €120 - €232 per person, per night. Cots are €10 extra a night and extra beds (if needed) are an extra €20 per night. Further information and accommodation options: Oliver's Travels. Flights to Ibiza are available from Dublin airport in Ireland and from various UK airports.

  3. All my experiences in Ibiza and I would have never thought about it as a family trip! Such an interesting perspective. Will definitely have to look into this for the future (I have family in the Canary Islands and I'm in Spain each year...side trip, perhaps). ;)

  4. You're right, I've only ever associated Ibiza with all night partying and electric dance music. My brother is actually headed there in September. I'll share your lodging suggestions with him.
