Beatrix Potter | A Collection ♥

When I was a baby I had a Beatrix Potter nursery. My cot had a beautiful Beatrix Potter quilt and bumper and matching curtains, all of which I so wish my mother held onto, unfortunately she donated them all to charity, never for me to see again. When I was a young child my mother gifted me with a stunning purple covered Treasury of Stories by Beatrix Potter and even to this day I think it was the most beautiful book I ever saw, with it's gold edged pages and classic illustrations, it's stories have stuck in my mind ever since and I'm so sad that I no longer have that amazing book and it seems that it's now quite rare and only available in America... sadly, you never know how precious things are to you until you no longer have them.

Now that I have a child of my own I want to pass on this love I've had for Beatrix Potter's tales since my own childhood. My favourite tale is that of Peter Rabbit, and I don't think I'm alone in this. I also have a particular penchant for The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, there's something so lovely about that tale and I love the fact that the character is most probably a figment of a little girls imagination - anything with a sense of whimsy has always captured my heart and most definitely always will.

I've read all the tales to my son and he has quite a lovely little collection of Beatrix Potter books now, I'll always pick them up, even though they're the same stories I like to have the different variations. He also has a little collection of Peter Rabbit soft toys and a comforter which he likes to carry around with him - so cute! He also has a little Peter Rabbit themed patchwork ball that I got for just £4 on the John Lewis website.

Recently I've found a love and a new obsession in Beatrix Potter Original clothing. I search Ebay and Etsy for these beautiful pieces and I've been so fortunate to find some really gorgeous, classic pieces which will never go out of fashion. I've gotten some Peter Rabbit jackets, shortalls and overalls for my son but I've also bought some dresses - so funny because when I shared them on Instagram people thought I was expecting! I'm really not, I'm simply just a collector. I have contemplated selling the dresses but if I ever do have a daughter one day I'll be upset to have passed them on. I think they're adorable! I'd also like to say they look much better in person than they do in these pictures, I have no idea why but Blogger keeps changing the colour contrast on the clothing pictures when I'm uploading them... *grrrrr....*

One day I'd love to have a room in my house like this beautiful Peter Rabbit room that I found on a gorgeous little blog recently called Susan Branch. I've already found a new obsession with quilts since reading that blog and have had a beautiful handmade Beatrix Potter patchwork quilt with minky backing made for Tyler Lee, gotten from an Etsy shop called Scarlett's Cozy Cottage, as well as purchasing a beautiful girls Cath Kidston and Beatrix Potter fabric nursery set, the quilt and cushion which I shared on the blog before.

One day soon I'd love to get to visit Beatrix Potters house in the UK, it looks so beautiful and it'd be lovely to see where she wrote her tales from and what inspired her writing and art. It'd also be great to visit the Beatrix Potter World shop and pick up some more bits for my little collection.
