Once again it's time to take stock of my life, to see what I am currently up to and how things can be improved. I started my 'Currently...' post series last year and thought it would be a fantastic way of keeping record of my life, what has been happening and all the things I've been doing. I wanted this to be a monthly feature but sadly it got lost in the mountain of stuff I had to do before writing this post, however, I'm going to try my best to stick to this series and take stock on my life and thoughts for awhile one day, once a month. I hope you'll enjoy reading my ramblings and reading all that I'm thinking and doing.
Making: Memories. I'm trying to make a conscious effort to get off the laptop and phone and get out with my family on little adventures. Making memories with them is what I want to do most and now that the sunny, warmer weather has arrived it's the perfect time to get out and about.
Cooking: Sadly, I haven't been doing much cooking as of late, the other half has taken over cooking duties simply because he enjoys the task. Homemade lasagne is on the menu tonight.
Drinking: Water, right now apple and raspberry sparkling water which is just delicious!
Reading: Some of my favourite blogs, I need to catch up on a lot of posts and leave some comments - Oh So Amelia, Sparkles and Stretchmarks and Mummy B this afternoon. I've also been reading bed time stories to my son every night. We've worked our way through all the Beatrix Potter tales we have and tonight I'll be continuing with one of the Alice in Wonderland books I found in the charity shop was just 50c!
Wanting: To move, have a better life, be happy.
Looking: At vintage clothes and quilts on Ebay and Etsy. This is becoming my newest obsession and one that is bound to give me an empty purse!
Wasting: Time watching repeats of the same television shows over and over again. Seriously, why do people pay for tv licenses? All that's available are repeats and ad breaks, it's awful.
Wishing: That I could become a professional blogger and be able to support my family with my hobby.
Loving: Instagram. Seriously, the best thing in the world is clicking the 'discover' button on a dull and dreary day here in Ireland and seeing pictures from some of the most beautiful beaches around the world. I want to live near one of those tropical beaches, that would be Heaven on Earth.
Smelling: Like Lush products. I've been using Jason and the Argan Oil dry shampoo bar and Marilyn pre-wash treatment on my hair and both have left it looking so shiny and feeling so soft. I've also been using the Happy Hippy shower gel which is the perfect citrusy scent to wake me up in the morning.
Noticing: How lovely some people are and how awful others are. The older I get the more I realise who matters and who I need in my life. I've begun shedding those who've been causing me stress and I won't stop until they're all gone from my life, I only want true friends, no lurkers.
What have you been up to lately?
I really want to get into cooking again! When ever I do my food shop I always seem to lack inspiration! One of my tasks today is to write a meal plan and then order the ingredients but we seem to just eat the same things all the time!! Want to try and be a bit more healthier too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention too lovely :)

TV has been pretty lame around here, too. Even big shows like The Walking Dead, which just ended last week for the season, had the LAMEST finale ever. TV is so bad these days.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post that brightened my day!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to finish up decluttering and spring cleaning. It's definitely a task! Also making sure to get outside every single day when the weather is nice.
ReplyDeleteMy husband likes drinking the sparkling water too, Me, Just plain water please.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of cooking!! I am so happy to see spring and nicer weather. That means my Hubs will be cooking on the grill. I am doing the happy dance.
I am obsessed with Lush! My daughter goes through bath bombs quicker than I can buy them :)
ReplyDeleteIn Denmark, the TV license is mandatory, and it's around $1,000 a year! If you don't pay it, they'll show up at your door and if you still don't pay it, they'll get the tax office to deduct it from your pay!
ReplyDeleteI hear you on wanting to move. I'm stuck living in Denmark for a couple more years and it seems like an eternity. One day at a time, that's the only way to do it.
I wish my husband would cook... he makes two things, pesto and chili, and that's just not enough to live on :(
I am also working on getting off the computer and phone... and even my camera. Sometimes we just need to live in the moment. Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. How cute! I love your current obsession with vintage quilts and clothing. Etsy is definitely the place to go for that. Thanks for sharing this. I am interested in reading more of these in the future!
ReplyDeleteI really don't do anything except work anymore. It's okay, because it means I'm busy. It would be nice to take a little time to read a book or just do nothing, though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that I am hoping to be able to be a professional blogger and be able to support my family through it. It's just so tricky when I am with my boys all day long and I want to unplug and enjoy them.

I dream of supporting myself and my future family with my hobbies, too. Nothing like scoring your dream job. I am sure you'll get there!

This is a great idea for a post. I have been doing a lot of organizing and spring cleaning lately.
ReplyDeleteWow, you are a lucky lady, I wish my husband would do some cooking lol. I love that you jotted down all these and shared with us.
ReplyDeleteI genuinely love this idea! I think keeping a "Currently.." archive is a fantastic way to track your life and experiences! I completely agree with you about making more memories, it seems life these days is so wrapped up in technology that we don't get outside enough. You have encouraged me to make a change for the better as well. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't stand all the commercials on TV either. That's why I watch Netflix all the time. I don't have to deal with commercials or repeats!
ReplyDeleteLove this post! I feel like I'm really getting to know you! We have a lot in common! :D
ReplyDeleteLately I have been getting back into the grind of things. I took a 3-day break from social media, blogging, work, etc. and I love it! Gave me the right amount of rejuvenation!
ReplyDeleteLove to see lists like this. I too have been noticing the abundance of amazing and awful people...for some reason it seem like there is no one in between. I have removed many of the toxic people from my life and it has been the positive change I needed.

That flavor of sparkling water sounds delicious. Maybe it could help me kick soda!
ReplyDeleteOkay its official. I must try these Lush products that I keep hearing about. I at least want to try them before they go out of style. Love this self reflective list you've created. Its an awesome idea for a blog post.
ReplyDeleteI have been doing this lately: surrounded only by people who are positive. I wish my husband would do some cooking too
ReplyDeleteYour wanting is mine exactly right now. I want to move so we can have a better life and be happy. Our current house is just major suck and we need a change!
ReplyDeleteApple & raspberry sparkling water sounds terrific right about now. As for what I'm up to lately - I'm getting a basket together for my neighbour who had her first baby yesterday! I'm printing off his first baby picture and putting it into a nice frame, and then making food for her, for tomorrow when they all get back from the hospital :)
ReplyDeleteI've been busy busy with the kids and working on my blog. It's long days and nights which means not much done for anything else.
ReplyDeleteFor me, making memories without documenting them either by taking pictures or blogging is sad. I have a short term memory so I can't live without taking notes and carrying a camera.
ReplyDeleteI am so envious of that you can buy clothes from Ebay and Etsy without worrying much about shipping. Being in the Philippines, we have limited choices when it comes to choosing clothes that are vintage. I love several designs in Etsy shops and I just have to wait who among my friends or relatives will be going to the US so I can ask them to bring them shipped material to me when they get back home.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about TV shows. I feel like I have been watching the same episodes over and over again!
ReplyDeleteI have a big fondness for Instagram too! I also have removed toxic people from my life. It's much nicer that way. :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are doing great on the path to be happier! Not a bad thing to give up cooking duties
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of repeats on TV. I rarely watch and even I noticed that one. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe share the same luck in that our husband love to do some cooking for us once in a while. And I'm also right there looking to vintage quilts on eBay, ever since I saw a blog post with some I cannot get enough of them haha.
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a great series idea. I love how you are trying to make memories with the family because that is so important. I think I am going to start taking inventory of my life each month. Last month was rough for me because I wasn't feeling well all month. Just this past week I am getting back to normal. Yeah!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteStarting to do a lot of birthday planning for my oldest. Can't believe he's going to be 4!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be a professional full time blogger as well!! I'm on a water kick and that apple raspberry water sounds delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to having a great idea for my blog and then letting life sweep me away to wear I just do not have any time. I love the list that you have created. We are on our way to a big move so that is our reality for right now.

I think we can all relate to having a great blog post idea and things just getting in the way. It is not as discouraging as it once was to me, I just find a new way to make it work
ReplyDeleteI honestly love this idea. Sometimes we get caught up with things in life that the only way for us to realize that we are missing some important things is via this kind of blog post..because we get to pause for a while, write and reflect. I genuinely love this "currently" thing that I am thinking of doing something similar. I'm glad I came across your blog.

Apple and raspberry sparkling water sounds so refreshing. I need to get in the habit of drinking more water and this would definitely provide some inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHi! Aw, lovely list of reflecting on the things that you enjoy doing, and want to do more of. I love the 'making memories' one - anything where we reflect on living consciously and mindfully means a life more fully lived.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about Etsy and Ebay... both are great places for inspiration and lust. Would love to see what you end up finding!
And lastly.. I love instagram as well. It's awesome to see how others see the world - and to see what they enjoy most about their lifestyles. If you'd like to find me (I'll be posting plenty of beach/tropical shots from my recent vacation ;) ), I'm at @lauriel. Let me know who you are; happy to follow you too!

I love these! I love how you are sharing these little tidbits about yourself. I love Lush products to pieces I must go to the store and re-up!
ReplyDeleteCooking is everything to me. It's my form of stress reduction. It relaxes me just as much as my other favorite hobby - reading. I just finished a book called Finding Me and now I am seeking something new.
ReplyDeleteI have the very same wish! I would love to be able to make blogging a full time job and make a living off of this!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been doing too much. My hubby has been preparing our yard for a new fence. He's been tearing out the old fence posts. I wanted to help but the weather hasn't cooperated. He doesn't let it stop him though.
ReplyDeleteI love your "noticing" comment. I think as you age you really do become more aware of others actions. And have the ability to sort out the bad from the good.
ReplyDeleteMaking memories is so important but it can also be hard to set aside the time to do so. Work, school and life take over.
ReplyDeleteHomemade lasagna is one of my favorites! I love these interesting facts about you. Awesome quote too!
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to start noticing how people are, especially these days. People seemed a little more respectful when I was young.
ReplyDeletePsst.... may have wanted to use a different font or color for the pic. I couldn't read it. Sorry, being dyslexic is not easy when reading certain fonts on certain backgrounds.
Making memories is so important. It's amazing how the little things make the best memories too.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I wish my husband would take over cooking. This mama could use a break! lol
I love shopping on ebay! I also got hooked on shopping at garage sales! PS I also watch the same shows over and over again - those are the best ones!
ReplyDeleteI love this post, it holds you accountable! Great idea. I have been packing our lives away for the past month as we prepare to move. In between that we actually went on vacation, and honestly I am not sure if that de stressed or added more stress to my life.
