A Teddy Bears Picnic In The Garden ♥

These last couple of weeks I've been trying to make the ordinary somewhat extraordinary for my boy and I. He's been off from playschool for the last two weeks due to it being the Easter holidays and I've been trying to spend as much time outdoors with him as I can and trying to entertain him in the process too. On Saturday morning I decided that we would retreat to the garden for a teddy bears picnic of sorts - other cuddly toys were more than welcome you see, no discrimination in our house!

I set up Tyler Lee's teepee in the garden, which is from Youmi and Teepee by the way - a lot of people have been asking on social media since this post went live - this acted as a great shelter from the rain later on, the weather being as unpredictable as ever on our island (we do live in Ireland after all!), with a duvet underneath to keep us off the freshly cut grass (which got everywhere by the way!). I let my boy choose what soft toys he wanted to join us on our picnic and I set up little treats in star shaped bowls and my yellow tin - funnily enough he ate hardly anything, he was far too busy running around.

When the rain came we darted inside the teepee for shelter, cuddling together to keep the raindrops off us and all the teds. It was such a lovely morning and I'm so glad we made use of the teepee, I can see it being carried outside on many occasions during the rest of spring and summer, it makes a great playhouse and shelter I must say!

This was such an ordinary thing to do, a little picnic in the garden but it brought a smile to my boys face and he was quite puzzled as to why his teepee was outside and not in his bedroom like it usually is. Little things like this really are so fun to put together for him and I love giving him fun experiences and a sense of wonder whenever I can.

Lots more teddy bears picnics are in order, after all, it'd be a shame not to when he has mountains of them and loves them all as if they were his friends.

  3. Teddy Bear picnic's were a HUGE hit when I was a kid - there was a huge event at a local park every summer. The people organizing it even had a little stand set up like a mini hospital in case your teddy broke its arm. Then this childrens singer came out on stage and sang us kids the most fun songs ever! So many awesome memories. lol

  4. Awww, Tyler is such a lucky little angel. I love that teepee and if I were still a little girl, I'd most likely play and sleep there. I love the things that you're doing. It makes growing up ( for Tyler most especially ) so much fun.

  14. Oh wow this teepee is very cute Fiona it does not look like shelter from rain so it's made it even more awesome to think it can. The treats and the whole setting looks very pretty

  20. My kids all talk about their teddy bear picnics from school. And of course we have had several at home since then as well. It’s amazing how much kids love the little details and things in life. The tepee your son has is so neat we have had pop up tents before that the kids love to play with for ours at a time.
