I just wanted to share some pictures of the solar eclipse which took place yesterday on March 20th 2015. It was such a strange phenomenon to witness the sky gradually grow darker and darker over the space of twenty minutes and to see the sunlight being covered during the day. Unfortunately my Nikon's lens doesn't zoom out very far so Jacek had to take these pictures on his Canon bridge camera. I think they turned out amazing and I just wanted to share them with you all. This was the solar eclipse as seen from Cork, Ireland.
Fantastic pictures they're so so clear!!

Hi Fiona & thanks to Jacek for these terrific pics. It was overcast here in Wexford so I missed out on this one but the 1999 complete eclipse was phenomenal to behold. We lived in Wicklow at the time so I headed to the beach with the dog, a blanket & my camera. Just before it went completely dark the birds stopped singing, in fact it was completely silent apart from the waves on the shore. Quite eerie. Then the sun started to reappear & right at that moment a train went by on it's way to Wexford & beyond & tooted it's horn. It sounded so loud amongst all the stillness. I'll never forget that day.
