My Summer Skincare Saviours Featuring LUSH, The Body Shop Ireland & Ziaja ♥

Summer time is the time of year where I start to actually give a damn about how my skin looks. I know it's absolutely awful but I'm not the type of person who sticks to using body butters, cleansers, scrubs, etc. all year round, one because I'm usually too tired when it comes to bed time to stick to any sort of routine and two I'm really just too lazy to spend time looking after every inch of my skin. However, when the summer time comes and it's time to bare my arms and legs for the world to see I do like to put time into looking after it, getting rid of any dry skin from the colder months and leaving it feeling soft and moisturised to perfection. I wanted to show you all some of my recent skincare saviours, the products I've been completely loving to use and which have had great results on my skin.

1. LUSH Ocean Salt. It's a wonder that being such a fan of LUSH's bath products that I didn't delve into the world of their amazing skincare products sooner. I had used the masks in the past and loved them but I didn't think to buy their skincare products, until the Cork Meetup that was when I was introduced to Ocean Salt. Now I absolutely love body scrubs and Ocean Salt really appealed to me, especially when the girl who showed it to use mentioned lime and vodka as some of the ingredients, one of my favourite drinks in a skincare product, a match made in Heaven surely?! I really wasn't disappointed with this product, I bought the self-preserving formula which I found to be more bitty to get a proper scrub out of it. I use this on my face very sparingly as it does give a very deep clean which can be a little painful, especially if you have sensitive skin but I definitely think it's worth it. I also use this product on the top of my arms for my keratosis pilaris and it gives a very powerful scrub leaving my skin feeling very soft and smooth. The lime scent the product has is lovely too and I love the rough sea salt, it's so good for the skin. This is a firm favourite of mine and I shall be buying it again and again. Ocean Salt is €9.20 for 120g.

2. LUSH Rub Rub Rub. This product is meant as a shower scrub but I also use this as a scalp scrub and shampoo and the results are amazing! When I first put this on my hair I thought it would be impossible to get out but it actually rinses really well and leaves my hair feeling really soft and thoroughly cleaned even before I condition it. It gives the scalp a great exfoliating too and I think it'd be a great product for people with dandruff to use, I don't have dandruff so don't hold me on that 100% but I think it should have great results. As a shower scrub Rub Rub Rub is a really product to use and such a treat in my daily shower. The product itself is blue in colour and has microgranules which are quite delicate on the skin compared to the harshness of Ocean Salt but it does give a great scrub and really does leave the skin feeling silky soft and in perfect condition for moisturising. This is another product I shall be investing in as I genuinely do enjoy using it. Rub Rub Rub is €9.95.

3. LUSH Ultrabland. I really love Ultrabland but unfortunately it doesn't love me. I wanted to give it a mention anyway as I think it is one of the most amazing cleansers I have ever used. Ultrabland can remove any makeup look in a matter of seconds, even waterproof mascara and eyeliner. You simply massage the product into the skin and then cleanse off with a wet cotton pad and voila your face is clean and makeup free. This product however is quite thick, oily and has beeswax in it which didn't sit well with my skin but the texture does mean that a little bit goes a long way so you'll get great value from this product. I think this would be a great product for people with dry or combination skin but for oily skinned people like me it most probably won't suit. It didn't make me break out or anything but it made my skin too oily. I am now left with an almost full tub of this amazing cleanser that I can't use. Why don't you like me Ultrabland, why?! Ultrabland is €8.70 for 45g.

4. The Body Shop Ireland Pink Grapefruit Body Sorbet. This was a product I received at the Lush event I attended in May but I only began using it lately when the intense heat that this summer is offering arrived. This product really lives up to it's name and does look and feel like a fruity sorbet with it's soft pink colour and icy looking texture. It's really cooling on the skin which is one of the reasons I love it, it also massages into the skin really well. The grapefruit scent is overpowering but I quite like that, especially with it being summer time and all I like to smell something sweet throughout the day. The Body Sorbet leaves skin thoroughly moisturised, feeling lovely and smelling delicious. I think this is such a fab summer moisturiser. Pink Grapefruit Body Sorbet is €13.50.

 5. Ziaja Rose Butter Moisturising Day Cream and Natural Grape Seed Oil Body Butter. As I said I'm not really one for buttering myself up from head to toe on a regular basis but when I am in the mood these two Ziaja body butters are the ones I opt for the job. I have a small tub of the rose butter which has a slight pink colour but doesn't really have a hint of rose at all but it does leave my skin feeling super soft. This butter is for the face and leaves my visage looking and feeling soft. This is a must have product for the summer sun. The Natural Grape Seed Oil Body Butter is a product I received in my Cork Meetup goody bag and this product does have a lovely sweet smell to it. The product is white in colour and is quite thick but does melt into the skin really well. I use generous amounts of this product when I'm moisturising my body and I still have loads left in the tub, it's great value for money and such a great product too, perfect! The Rose Butter Moisturising Day Cream is €6.99 and the Natural Grape Seed Oil Body Butter is €7.99.

6. Ziaja Manuka Tree Purifying Normalising Cleansing Gel Oily & Combination Skin. This product was my complete saviour when LUSH's Ultrabland made my skin uncontrollably oily, it normalised my skin (does what it says on the tin or should I say bottle in this case?!) making the oil controllable as well as giving my skin a great clean. I apply this product onto a cotton pad and swipe over my face to remove my makeup, I then use another cotton pad dowsed in water to remove the product and that's basically it. It's so quick and simple to use and the pump it has makes for mess and fuss free cleansing. This product also soothes irritated skin and redness so is a great one to use this time of year for heat rashes or sunburn. My face feels amazing and properly cleaned after I use this product. I love and highly recommend it, especially for those like me who don't like to spend too long on a cleansing routine. The Manuka Tree Purifying Normalising Cleansing Gel Oily & Combination Skin is €4.49.

Products from left to right - Top row: Ultabland, Rub Rub Rub, Ocean Salt.
Bottom row: Manuka Tree Purifying Normalising Cleansing Gel, Pink Grapefruit Body Sorbet, Rose Butter Facial Moisturiser, Natural Grape Seed Oil Body Butter.

So there you have it, six skincare products which I've been loving this summer and which have been absolute saviours for my skin, even if one didn't agree with me completely. I highly recommend all these products, not only are they wonder products and so lovely to use the benefits they've had on my skin speak for themselves. Also these products aren't too expensive either making them the perfect products to add to your daily skincare routine.
